UAE accepts Afghan President Ashraf Ghani & Family for “humanitarian Considerations”

The United Arab Emirates says it has accepted Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and his family in the country for “humanitarian considerations.”

Ghani fled Afghanistan after the Taliban approached Kabul and took over the country peacefully saying he wanted to avoid bloodshed.

The Taliban capped a military victory that saw the movement capture all cities in including Kabul in just 10 days.

In a statement, the UAE Foreign Ministry confirmed that Ghani was welcomed into the country.

“The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation can confirm that the UAE has welcomed President Ashraf Ghani and his family into the country on humanitarian grounds.”

This is the first time Ghani’s whereabouts have been confirmed.
