The Ulwazi Skills Development Centre in collaboration with Madrasah Aysha Skills Development Centre, hosted an annual graduation ceremony yesterday. Young ladies fresh from Matric and others well into their 60s were part of the graduates.

Ulwazi has been over for the past few years, equipping women of all ages with skills such as cooking, baking, sewing, computer, and art.

The organisation’s main purpose is to see women empowering themselves financially, especially in their current economic situation. These skills have helped women as old as 61 become businesswomen.

Appa Fatima Shaikh Hussain, a teacher at Ulwazi, says everyone has a hidden talent that needs to be realised. And that’s where Ulwazi comes in.

Women of all ages can receive quality skills training for a small fee of R850, which can be paid off during the course. A certificate is provided after the course.
