[WATCH] Communications Minister Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams Apologises for Breaching Lockdown Regulations

Communications Minister Stella-Ndabeni-Abrahams has apologized to President Cyril Ramaphosa, the national command council and the nation for breaching the national lockdown regulations. 

Ndabeni-Abrahams was photographed having lunch with former Higher Education Deputy Minister Mduduzi Manana and others despite government’s strict 21-day lockdown regulations.

The apology comes after Ramaphosa placed the communications minister on special leave for two months – one month of which will be unpaid.

In her apology Ndabeni-Abrahams says she regrets breaching the lockdown regulations.

“I regret the incident and am deeply sorry for my actions. I hope the president and you South Africans will find it in your hearts to forgive me.”

Abrahams says the intends to abide by the special leave and use the opportunity to reiterate Ramaphosa’s call for all South Africans to observe the lockdown rules and regulations.
