[WATCH] Fire Engulf Durban’s Grey Street Mosque Building

A fire has gutted parts of the Grey Street Mosque in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal.

It’s believed that the blaze started in one of the flats in front of the mosque on Monday.

According to a post by  eThekwini Secure, the fire engulfed the flats and not the mosque itself.

“As per members on the scene, fortunately all residents were evacuated and there are no casualties. It seems the fire decimated all the flats that line wrapping around the units facing Cathedral Road, the fire caught the roofing which furthered the spread.”

KZN Emergency Medical Services Robert McKenzie says fire fighting services are currently on scene tackling the blaze, with no information on how the fire started having yet been established.
