While it is a welcome reprieve for many small and large businesses and the tourism industry, many scientists and other experts have cautioned South Africans to remain vigilant with regards to safety measures.

At the same time, Wits University has launched its second Covid-19 vaccine trial, testing an experimental shot made by US biotech company Novavax, supported in part by a $15-million or about R261-million grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
