Woman Beaten to Death with Hammer in Orkney

North West police have arrested a 55-year-old man for the murder of his ex- girlfriend in Orkney.

It’s understood the suspect beat the 64-year-old woman to death with a hammer on Wednesday.

Police say the motive for the murder is being investigated.

Spokesperson Amanda Funani said: “We are investigating a case of murder after a 64-year-old woman’s body was found at a certain house in Orkney. We are busy with our investigations, but a hammer was found near her body. At this stage we have arrested a 55-year-old man who is believed to be the ex of this lady.”
