Trump\u2019s Gaza Plan Ignores Occupation Realities as Global Double Standards Deepen<\/strong><\/p>\n

As the Trump administration touts its new 20-point plan to \u201cend the Gaza war,\u201d analysts warn it is yet another attempt to reframe Israel\u2019s occupation rather than resolve it. The proposal, which divides implementation into ceasefire and withdrawal phases, faces deep mistrust on the ground \u2014 especially among Palestinians who continue to live under siege and displacement.<\/p>\n

In a discussion<\/a> on Radio Islam International<\/em>, Middle East analyst and scholar Dr James M Dorsey<\/strong> said Washington\u2019s optimism is fading fast.<\/p>\n

\u201cIndeed, that reality appears to be sinking in into the Trump administration,\u201d he remarked, pointing to a stream of high-level U.S. visits \u2014 including Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio \u2014 aimed at preserving a shaky ceasefire that has brought little relief to Gazans still facing devastation.<\/p>\n

Central to the deadlock is Israel\u2019s insistence on halting all progress until the remains of soldiers killed during the war are recovered. But even beyond this, Israel has refused to commit to a full withdrawal from Gaza, instead retreating \u201cbehind a yellow line,\u201d in contradiction of the agreement\u2019s terms.<\/p>\n

\u201c<\/em>There may be a formula whereby Hamas surrenders the few heavy weapons it has and retains small arms,\u201d Dorsey explained \u2014 a compromise that Israel\u2019s leadership continues to reject while maintaining a crippling blockade that starves civilians of basic rights.<\/p>\n

The plan\u2019s flaws echo a long pattern of U.S. peace initiatives that avoid confronting the central issue: the illegal occupation and systematic subjugation of Palestinians. Human rights observers note that without accountability for war crimes and a guarantee of Palestinian sovereignty, talk of \u201cpeace\u201d remains hollow.<\/p>\n

Dorsey also highlighted a broader moral inconsistency that defines global politics today. The normalisation of impunity reflects a world order where power routinely overrides principle.<\/p>\n

That hypocrisy extends to international sport. Israeli teams facing fan bans over racist, anti-Arab chanting are treated as victims, while nations showing solidarity with Palestine face punishment. Indonesia, which barred Israeli athletes from a gymnastics championship, was immediately sanctioned by the International Olympic Committee \u2014 even as the IOC remained silent when the U.S. denied visas to Iranian delegates.<\/p>\n

From Gaza to global arenas, the pattern is unmistakable: justice for Palestinians remains conditional, delayed, and politicised. As Israel continues its occupation and world powers look the other way, Washington\u2019s latest \u201cpeace plan\u201d risks becoming just another chapter in the long history of double standards that have enabled Palestinian suffering to persist.<\/p>\n
