{"id":101850,"date":"2025-10-29T12:57:18","date_gmt":"2025-10-29T10:57:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/radioislam.org.za\/a\/?p=101850"},"modified":"2025-10-29T12:57:18","modified_gmt":"2025-10-29T10:57:18","slug":"egyptian-macarona-pasta","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/radioislam.org.za\/a\/egyptian-macarona-pasta\/","title":{"rendered":"Egyptian Macarona Pasta"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>For the Pasta<\/p>\n<p>500g\u00a0Penne pasta<\/p>\n<p>Water<\/p>\n<p>Salt, to taste<\/p>\n<p>For the Meat Sauce<\/p>\n<p>500g\u00a0Ground beef<\/p>\n<p>1\u00a0onion<\/p>\n<p>1 1\/2\u00a0cup\u00a0tomato sauce\u00a0(canned and\/or crushed tomatoes)<\/p>\n<p>2 tablespoon\u00a0olive oil<\/p>\n<p>1 teaspoon\u00a0thyme<\/p>\n<p>1 teaspoon\u00a0salt (or to taste)<\/p>\n<p>1 teaspoon\u00a0black pepper (or to taste)<\/p>\n<p>For the B\u00e9chamel Sauce<\/p>\n<p>1 1\/2\u00a0cup\u00a0flour<\/p>\n<p>1 1\/2\u00a0cup\u00a0butter<\/p>\n<p>1 1\/2\u00a0litres\u00a0milk<\/p>\n<p>1 teaspoon\u00a0salt<\/p>\n<p>1\/2 teaspoon\u00a0nutmeg<\/p>\n<p>For the Assembly<\/p>\n<p>1\u00a0cup\u00a0grated\u00a0mozzarella<\/p>\n<p>Instructions<\/p>\n<p>Preheat your oven to 180 degrees<\/p>\n<p>For the pasta<\/p>\n<p>Start by boiling the pasta in salted water until al dente. Drain and set aside.<\/p>\n<p>For the meat sauce<\/p>\n<p>Finely dice the onion and cook in a pan with the olive oil, stirring occasionally until softened, about 5 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>Add the meat and break it up using a wooden spoon and cook until browned, about 5 minutes. Add the salt, pepper, thyme and the tomato sauce and simmer for 3-4 minutes. set aside.<\/p>\n<p>For the Bechamel Sauce<\/p>\n<p>Begin by melting the butter over medium heat.<\/p>\n<p>Whisk in the flour while over heat. Cook for 3-4 minutes as you continuously whisk.<\/p>\n<p>Pour the milk in slowly while continuing to whisk until the sauce is formed.<\/p>\n<p>Macarona Bechamel, Assemble!<\/p>\n<p>In a deep, large casserole dish, add the pasta. Add the meat mixture and mix together. Smooth out to create a layer. Add a layer of mozzarella.<\/p>\n<p>Cover using all of the Bechamel sauce and smooth it out (for presentation).<\/p>\n<p>Bake at 375 degrees F for 40 mins.
