Jacob Zuma\u2019s MK Party is seeing yet another change in its leadership.<\/p>\n
According to political analyst Kim Heller, there is a \u201clot of mystery and in-fighting\u201d behind the removal of Coleen Makhubele as the party\u2019s chief whip, despite her doing a \u201cvery good job.\u201d Although she will retain her position as a member of parliament, unconfirmed allegations abound as to her being tied to Zionists not aligned with the party.<\/p>\n
Treasurer General Mpiyakhe Limba was also removed and replaced by Brian Molefe, who Kim says has the acumen and necessary skills to do the job despite being \u201cvery badly positioned by the media\u201d.<\/p>\n
From a local governance perspective, the Party\u2019s leadership of KZN is \u201cvery upsetting\u201d and problematic due to a high level of uncertainty, with the constant changes becoming \u201croutine rather than corrective.\u201d<\/p>\n
There are efforts in the party to move away from ethnocentricity, with a concentration and a \u201cvery bold footprint\u201d focusing on its strongholds in KZN and Gauteng instead of spreading themselves out to other provinces.<\/p>\n
Dominating headlines of these political parties with the upcoming elections, Kim feels that there will be \u201ca lot more friction\u201d with KZN being a particular area of close contestation due to the MK\u2019s leadership fragmentation and lacklustre performance as the official poor opposition.<\/p>\n
