But this potential depends on the condition of the heart. A heart that sins repeatedly without repentance becomes like a blackened and weathered surface, less receptive to guidance and less alive in faith.<\/p>\n<p>Allah describes the effect of repeated wrongdoing:<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u0648\u064e\u0645\u0650\u0646\u064e \u0627\u0644\u0646\u0651\u064e\u0627\u0633\u0650 \u0645\u064e\u0646 \u064a\u064e\u0634\u0652\u0631\u0650\u064a \u0646\u064e\u0641\u0652\u0633\u064e\u0647\u064f \u0627\u0628\u0652\u062a\u0650\u063a\u064e\u0627\u0621\u064e \u0645\u064e\u0631\u0652\u0636\u064e\u0627\u062a\u0650 \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0651\u064e\u0647\u0650 \u06da \u0648\u064e\u0627\u0644\u0644\u0651\u064e\u0647\u064f \u0631\u064e\u0621\u064f\u0648\u0641\u064c \u0628\u0650\u0627\u0644\u0652\u0639\u0650\u0628\u064e\u0627\u062f\u0650<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd of the people is he who sells himself, seeking the pleasure of Allah, and Allah is Kind to [His] servants.\u201d (Surah Al-Baqarah 2: 207)<\/p>\n<p>But the other side of this is what happens when people pursue desires that draw them away from Allah. The Qur\u2019an uses the language of spiritual covering:<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u0643\u064e\u0644\u0651\u064e\u0627 \u0628\u064e\u0644\u0652 \u0631\u064e\u0627\u0646\u064e \u0639\u064e\u0644\u064e\u0649\u0670 \u0642\u064f\u0644\u064f\u0648\u0628\u0650\u0647\u0650\u0645 \u0645\u0651\u064e\u0627 \u0643\u064e\u0627\u0646\u064f\u0648\u0627 \u064a\u064e\u0643\u0652\u0633\u0650\u0628\u064f\u0648\u0646\u064e<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo! Rather, a covering has covered their hearts because of what they used to earn.\u201d (Surah Al-Mutaffifin 83: 14)<\/p>\n<p>The word \u0631\u064e\u0627\u0646\u064e refers to a dark, sticky covering \u2014 like rust that sits on iron. This covering represents the accumulation of sins and negligence, which blinds the heart. It makes it harder to feel remorse, to recognize truth, and to soften toward Allah\u2019s mercy.<\/p>\n<p>This spiritual covering does not happen suddenly with one mistake. It happens gradually \u2014 when sins are left unrepented, when the heart becomes desensitized, and when the person becomes comfortable with negligence.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What Happens When the Heart Is Darkened?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Decreased Spiritual Sensitivity<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Prophet \ufdfa taught that sins affect the heart, comparing their effect to something physical:<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u0625\u0650\u0646\u0651\u064e \u0644\u0650\u0644\u0652\u0642\u064e\u0644\u0652\u0628\u0650 \u0628\u064e\u0644\u064e\u0627\u0621\u064b \u0643\u064e\u0645\u064e\u0627 \u0644\u0650\u0644\u0652\u062c\u064e\u0633\u064e\u062f\u0650 \u0628\u064e\u0644\u064e\u0627\u0621\u064c\u060c \u0641\u064e\u0625\u0650\u0630\u064e\u0627 \u0623\u064e\u0630\u0652\u0646\u064e\u0628\u064e \u0627\u0644\u0652\u0639\u064e\u0628\u0652\u062f\u064f \u0630\u064e\u0646\u0652\u0628\u064b\u0627 \u0635\u064e\u063a\u0650\u064a\u0631\u064b\u0627 \u0646\u064f\u0643\u0650\u062a\u064e\u062a\u0652 \u0641\u0650\u064a\u0647\u0650 \u0646\u064f\u0643\u0652\u062a\u064e\u0629\u064c \u0633\u064e\u0648\u0652\u062f\u064e\u0627\u0621\u064f\u2026 \u0641\u064e\u0630\u064e\u0644\u0650\u0643\u064e \u0643\u064e\u0638\u0650\u0644\u064e\u0627\u0644\u0650\u0647\u0650 \u0639\u064e\u0644\u064e\u0649\u0670 \u064a\u064e\u0648\u0652\u0645\u0650 \u0627\u0644\u0652\u0642\u0650\u064a\u064e\u0627\u0645\u064e\u0629\u0650<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe heart has a trial just as the body has a trial. When the servant commits a small sin, a black spot is placed in it\u2026 and that will be like shadows on the Day of Resurrection.\u201d (Tirmidhi)<\/p>\n<p>This narration, shows the spiritual residue of sin \u2014 a mark that dims the heart\u2019s brightness and clarity.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>Loss of Peace and Tranquillity<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Allah tells us what brings true peace:<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u0623\u064e\u0644\u064e\u0627 \u0628\u0650\u0630\u0650\u0643\u0652\u0631\u0650 \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0651\u064e\u0647\u0650 \u062a\u064e\u0637\u0652\u0645\u064e\u0626\u0650\u0646\u0651\u064f \u0627\u0644\u0652\u0642\u064f\u0644\u064f\u0648\u0628\u064f<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnquestionably, by the remembrance of Allah hearts are assured.\u201d (Surah Ar-Ra\u2019d 13: 28)<\/p>\n<p>When sins occupy the heart and when dhikr becomes infrequent, the heart loses that tranquillity. It may remain restless, anxious, or distracted even amidst worship.<\/p>\n<p><em>Hardening Toward Guidance<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Allah warns about hearts that become unresponsive because of habit and sin:<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u0648\u064e\u0645\u0650\u0646\u0652\u0647\u064f\u0645 \u0645\u0651\u064e\u0646 \u064a\u064e\u0633\u0652\u062a\u064e\u0645\u0650\u0639\u064f \u0625\u0650\u0644\u064e\u064a\u0652\u0643\u064e \u06d6 \u0648\u064e\u062c\u064e\u0639\u064e\u0644\u0652\u0646\u064e\u0627 \u0639\u064e\u0644\u064e\u0649\u0670 \u0642\u064f\u0644\u064f\u0648\u0628\u0650\u0647\u0650\u0645\u0652 \u0623\u064e\u0643\u0650\u0646\u0651\u064e\u0629\u064b \u0623\u064e\u0646 \u064a\u064e\u0641\u0652\u0642\u064e\u0647\u064f\u0648\u0647\u064f \u0648\u064e\u0641\u0650\u0649\u0653 \u0621\u064e\u0627\u0630\u064e\u0627\u0646\u0650\u0647\u0650\u0645\u0652 \u0648\u064e\u0642\u0652\u0631\u064b\u0627<\/strong> <strong>\u06da<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2026They listen to you, but they are deaf. Unquestionably, they are people with no understanding.\u201d (Surah Al-An\u2018am 6: 25)<\/p>\n<p>This shows the danger of neglecting reflection: the heart listens physically but remains spiritually deaf.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why Sins Darken the Heart<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Sin does not exist in isolation. When a person sins:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>They detach from Allah\u2019s support.<\/li>\n<li>They delay repentance.<\/li>\n<li>They justify wrongdoing.<\/li>\n<li>They minimize the impact of sin on the soul.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Even major sins can be forgiven with sincere tawbah \u2014 but prolonged neglect dulls the heart.<\/p>\n<p>This is why the Prophet \ufdfa said:<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u0645\u064e\u0646\u0652 \u0623\u064e\u0630\u0652\u0646\u064e\u0628\u064e \u0630\u064e\u0646\u0652\u0628\u064b\u0627 \u062b\u064f\u0645\u0651\u064e \u0627\u0633\u0652\u062a\u064e\u063a\u0652\u0641\u064e\u0631\u064e \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0651\u064e\u0647\u064e\u060c \u063a\u064f\u0641\u0650\u0631\u064e \u0644\u064e\u0647\u064f<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhoever commits a sin then seeks Allah\u2019s forgiveness, it will be forgiven.\u201d (Ibn Majah)<\/p>\n<p>This hadith assures us that repentance restores the heart.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ramadhan is not only about abstaining from food \u2014 it is about abstaining from sin, reviving the heart, and refining the soul.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A heart that repents grows brighter.<\/p>\n<p>A heart that worships intentionally becomes softer.<\/p>\n<p>A heart that remembers Allah is tranquil.<\/p>\n<p>Because Ramadhan is not only a season of discipline \u2014<\/p>\n<p>it is a season of illumination.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Renewal of the Heart and Soul Phase 2 &#8211; Awakening the Heart: From Routine to Purpose How Sins Darken the Heart When Allah created human beings, He gave them potential \u2014 the potential to worship, to grow, to draw near to Him.
