Ingredients\nFor the cake:
\n1\u00bd cups plain flour
\n\u00bd teaspoon baking soda
\n\u00bd cup cocoa powder
\n1\u2153 cups sugar
\n\u00be cup soft butter
\n2 large eggs
\n1 tablespoon vanilla extract
\n\u2153 cup sour cream
\n1 cup dark chocolate chips
\n\u00bd cup boiling water
\nFor the syrup:
\n1 teaspoon cocoa powder
\n\u00bd cup sugar
\n\u00bd cup water
\n\u00b1\u00bc cup chopped dark chocolate
\nPreheat your oven to 170\u00b0C (150\u00b0C fan). Line a loaf tin and leave some baking paper hanging over the sides.
\nInto a bowl or food processor, add:\u2028flour, baking soda, cocoa, sugar, butter, eggs, vanilla, and sour cream.\u2028Mix until you have a smooth chocolate batter.
\nSlowly add the boiling water and mix again \u2014 this makes the cake extra moist.
\nFold in the chocolate chips.
\nPour into your loaf tin and bake for about 1 hour.\u2028The top should be set, slightly cracked, and a skewer should come out mostly clean.
\nIn a small pot, add cocoa, sugar, and water.\u2028Bring to a boil and simmer for about 5 minutes until slightly thickened.
\nStir in the chopped dark chocolate until melted and glossy.
\nWhen the cake comes out the oven, poke small holes all over.
\nPour the warm syrup over the cake while it\u2019s still in the tin \u2014 let it soak in.
