With two armed groups operating in the region, his visit to the northeastern town of Biaro following a deadly attack on the border town of Am-Dafok serves to bring stability to the region.

The nomadic Arab group from the CAR are the same ones committing a genocide in Darfur and doing what the Sudanese RSF are doing in rebelling against the government and holding arms against them.

Countries neighbouring Sudan like Chad and Ethiopia have been affected by the civil war, with Eritrea the only country not affected by the insurgencies. According to Ramadan, some are even “conniving” with the RSF and its funders, the United Arab Emirates, bribed to facilitate the transfer of arms into Sudan. The RSF is not an “organised group” like an army with a hierarchy, but rather works arbitrarily, and can easily turn against anyone, with Chad itself having suffered daring attacks by the RSF.

Politicians always try to pacify citizens, but it is difficult to deny the “facts on the ground,” Ramadan says. “Investment and instability are antidotes,” that cannot exist side-by-side, he emphasizes. With the Sudanese border being “one of the hottest borders” due to the nature of the terrain and the tribes, attacks are frequent with volatile nomads who often turn against each other.

Ramadan says that he is “not optimistic at all” that the situation will improve because of the involvement of outside forces like the UAE that is operating on behalf of Zionism, creating instability, hegemony and fuelling the conflict in the area. He adds that it is “incumbent on regional governments” to show commitment to the safety and stability of the region without accepting bribes, and to not allow insurgency to continue from the outside.

Listen to the full interview with Ml Habib Bobat and Ramadan Ahmed here.

Rabia Mayet | rabiamayet@radioislam.co.za 20 July 2026 2-minute read Growing concerns have arisen along the Sudan/Central African Republic border where conflict from Sudan is spilling over into neighbouring countries and affecting thousands of people.
