{"id":107436,"date":"2026-08-07T08:57:43","date_gmt":"2026-08-07T06:57:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/radioislam.org.za\/a\/?p=107436"},"modified":"2026-08-07T08:57:43","modified_gmt":"2026-08-07T06:57:43","slug":"building-tomorrow-together-part-5","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/radioislam.org.za\/a\/building-tomorrow-together-part-5\/","title":{"rendered":"Building Tomorrow Together &#8211; Part 5"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Connected Beyond Borders <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Building Tomorrow Together \u2013 <\/strong><strong>The Africa We Want to Leave Behind<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Throughout this week we&#8217;ve been inspired by the International Day of Awareness of the Special Development Needs and Challenges of Landlocked Developing Countries, observed on the 6th of August.<\/p>\n<p>What began as a discussion about geography has become something much bigger.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve learned that while some countries face unique challenges because they have no direct access to the sea, these challenges can be overcome through cooperation, investment, innovation and strong partnerships.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve spoken about why the prices we pay are influenced by transport and trade.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve discovered that neighbouring countries achieve more when they work together than when they work alone.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve explored how infrastructure and technology are helping Africa overcome barriers that once seemed impossible.<\/p>\n<p>Today, as we conclude our series, we ask one final question:<\/p>\n<p><strong>What kind of Africa are we building for the next generation?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This is perhaps the most important question of all.<\/p>\n<p>Every generation inherits a continent from those who came before them.<\/p>\n<p>But every generation also has the responsibility to leave it better than they found it.<\/p>\n<p>When we think about Africa&#8217;s future, it&#8217;s easy to focus only on the challenges.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We hear about unemployment.<\/li>\n<li>We hear about poverty.<\/li>\n<li>We hear about climate change.<\/li>\n<li>We hear about conflict.<\/li>\n<li>We hear about rising living costs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These challenges are real, and they cannot be ignored.<\/p>\n<p>But they are only part of the story.<\/p>\n<p>There is another Africa.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>An Africa filled with possibility.<\/li>\n<li>An Africa where young entrepreneurs are creating businesses that solve real problems.<\/li>\n<li>An Africa where scientists are making important discoveries.<\/li>\n<li>An Africa where farmers are adopting smarter ways to grow food.<\/li>\n<li>An Africa where educators are shaping tomorrow&#8217;s leaders.<\/li>\n<li>An Africa where communities continue to demonstrate resilience, generosity and hope, even during difficult times.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>That Africa deserves our attention too.<\/p>\n<p>One of the greatest gifts we can leave future generations is not simply better roads or stronger economies.<\/p>\n<p>It is stronger values.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Honesty<\/li>\n<li>Integrity<\/li>\n<li>Compassion<\/li>\n<li>Responsibility<\/li>\n<li>Respect<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These are the foundations upon which lasting development is built.<\/p>\n<p>A nation with excellent infrastructure but weak values will always struggle.<\/p>\n<p>But a society with strong character will continue finding solutions, even in difficult times.<\/p>\n<p>Development is therefore not only about governments.<\/p>\n<p>It is about people.<\/p>\n<p>It begins with how we treat one another.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>How we educate our children.<\/li>\n<li>How we support our neighbours.<\/li>\n<li>How we conduct business.<\/li>\n<li>How we care for our environment.<\/li>\n<li>How we contribute to our communities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Each small action becomes part of a much bigger picture.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Closing<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As we conclude this week&#8217;s discussions, we thank you for joining us on this journey.
