{"id":107551,"date":"2026-08-13T08:57:32","date_gmt":"2026-08-13T06:57:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/radioislam.org.za\/a\/?p=107551"},"modified":"2026-08-13T08:57:32","modified_gmt":"2026-08-13T06:57:32","slug":"the-women-who-will-shape-tomorrow-part-4","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/radioislam.org.za\/a\/the-women-who-will-shape-tomorrow-part-4\/","title":{"rendered":"The Women Who Will Shape Tomorrow &#8211; Part 4"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The Women Who Shaped Us<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Women Who Will Shape Tomorrow<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>All week, we&#8217;ve been talking about \u201cThe Women Who Shaped Us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve spoken about the women who shaped our lives, the women whose sacrifices often go unnoticed, and the women who have made an impact on their communities.<\/p>\n<p>Today, let&#8217;s look forward.<\/p>\n<p>Because there is another generation of women growing up around us right now.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Our daughters.<\/li>\n<li>Our sisters.<\/li>\n<li>Our nieces.<\/li>\n<li>Our students.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Young women who are watching everything happening around them and forming an idea of what it means to be a woman. And that raises an important question:<\/p>\n<p><strong>What are we teaching them?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Because long before a young girl becomes a woman, she is receiving messages about her value. She hears messages:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>From her family.<\/li>\n<li>From her friends.<\/li>\n<li>From school.<\/li>\n<li>From society.<\/li>\n<li>And, of course, from social media.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>She sees images telling her what she should look like.<\/p>\n<p>She sees people measuring success by popularity, appearance and followers.<\/p>\n<p>She sees people constantly comparing themselves with others.<\/p>\n<p>And eventually, she may begin asking: <strong>\u201cAm I good enough?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>But perhaps we need to give our daughters a different message.<\/p>\n<p>We need to teach them that their value isn&#8217;t determined by how many people admire them.<\/p>\n<p>It isn&#8217;t determined by how they compare to somebody else.<\/p>\n<p>And it certainly isn&#8217;t determined by social media.<\/p>\n<p>Their value comes from their character, their knowledge, their principles, their kindness, their resilience and the contribution they make to the world around them.<\/p>\n<p>We need to teach our girls that being strong doesn&#8217;t mean never struggling.<\/p>\n<p><strong>It means having the courage to keep going.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We need to teach them that asking for help isn&#8217;t weakness.<\/p>\n<p>That learning is powerful.<\/p>\n<p>That failure doesn&#8217;t make them failures.<\/p>\n<p>And that they don&#8217;t have to become somebody else to be worthy.<\/p>\n<p>But there&#8217;s another responsibility we have.<\/p>\n<p><em>We need to <strong>show<\/strong> them what we are teaching them.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>We can tell our daughters to respect people \u2014 but do they see respect in our homes?<\/p>\n<p>We can tell them to value themselves \u2014 but do we constantly criticise ourselves in front of them?<\/p>\n<p>We can tell them to be confident \u2014 but do we listen when they speak?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Children learn from what we do far more than from what we say.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>And perhaps one of the greatest gifts we can give the next generation is a home where a young girl feels that her voice matters.<\/p>\n<p>Where she can ask questions.<\/p>\n<p>Where she can make mistakes.<\/p>\n<p>Where she can learn.<\/p>\n<p>Where she knows that she is loved.<\/p>\n<p>And where she understands that success doesn&#8217;t have to look the same for everyone.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Women Who Shaped Us The Women Who Will Shape Tomorrow All week, we&#8217;ve been talking about \u201cThe Women Who Shaped Us.\u201d We&#8217;ve spoken about the women who shaped our lives, the women whose sacrifices often go unnoticed, and the women who have made an impact on their communities.
