{"id":108031,"date":"2026-09-03T08:00:10","date_gmt":"2026-09-03T06:00:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/radioislam.org.za\/a\/?p=108031"},"modified":"2026-09-02T16:24:51","modified_gmt":"2026-09-02T14:24:51","slug":"a-world-of-words-part-4","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/radioislam.org.za\/a\/a-world-of-words-part-4\/","title":{"rendered":"A World of Words &#8211; Part 4"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Muhammad \ufdfa: Humanity&#8217;s Compass in a Sea of Chaos<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Chaos Around Us<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>A World of Words &#8211; <\/strong><em>When Everyone Has Something to Say<\/em><\/p>\n<p>We live in a world where everyone has a voice.<\/p>\n<p>A message can reach thousands of people within seconds. A rumour can spread before the truth has even had a chance to catch up. A photograph can be taken out of context, and a person&#8217;s reputation can be damaged with a few taps on a screen.<\/p>\n<p>We have more access to information than any generation before us.<\/p>\n<p>But perhaps our greatest challenge isn&#8217;t finding information.<\/p>\n<p><strong>It&#8217;s knowing what to believe, what to share and what to leave unsaid.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>And this is where the example of Muhammad \ufdfa becomes incredibly relevant.<\/p>\n<p>More than 1,400 years ago, the Prophet \ufdfa taught principles that speak directly to the way we communicate today.<\/p>\n<p>One of those principles is simple:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Verify before you believe and share.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Qur&#8217;an instructs believers to verify information before acting upon it, particularly when it comes from an unreliable source.<\/p>\n<p>Think about how relevant that is today.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>How often do we see a headline and immediately forward it?<\/li>\n<li>How often do we share a video because it makes us angry?<\/li>\n<li>How often do we comment on a story without knowing the full picture?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Once something is online, it can spread far beyond our control.<\/p>\n<p>The Prophetic compass tells us to slow down.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Not everything we hear needs to be repeated.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Not everything we see needs to be shared.<\/p>\n<p>And not every opinion needs to become an argument.<\/p>\n<p>Muhammad \ufdfa also warned against spreading rumours and speaking about people in ways that could harm them.<\/p>\n<p>Today, a person&#8217;s reputation can be damaged by something typed in a few seconds.<\/p>\n<p>A private mistake can become public.<\/p>\n<p>A rumour can reach thousands.<\/p>\n<p>And sometimes we participate without stopping to think about the consequences.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps before we press <strong>\u201csend,\u201d<\/strong> we should ask ourselves:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Would I say this if the person I am talking about was standing in front of me?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>That one question could change the way we communicate.<\/p>\n<p>But the Prophetic example isn&#8217;t only about what we shouldn&#8217;t say.<\/p>\n<p>Muhammad \ufdfa also taught us the value of <strong>good speech.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Our words can encourage.<\/li>\n<li>They can heal.<\/li>\n<li>They can reconcile.<\/li>\n<li>They can give someone hope.<\/li>\n<li>But they can also hurt, divide and destroy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>That&#8217;s why communication isn&#8217;t simply about having a voice.<\/p>\n<p><strong>It&#8217;s about having the wisdom to use that voice responsibly.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Today, we often celebrate people for being loud \u2014 the strongest opinion, the sharpest comeback or the most controversial statement.<\/p>\n<p>But the Prophetic model teaches us something very different:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Being heard isn&#8217;t always the same as being right.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Sometimes wisdom is knowing when to speak, and sometimes wisdom is knowing when to remain silent.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Imagine if we applied that to our digital lives.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Before commenting, we paused.<\/li>\n<li>Before forwarding, we verified.<\/li>\n<li>Before criticising, we understood.<\/li>\n<li>Before responding in anger, we waited.<\/li>\n<li>Before sharing someone&#8217;s mistake, we remembered their dignity.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Perhaps social media would become a very different place.<\/p>\n<p>And this isn&#8217;t only about what we post online.<\/p>\n<p>It applies to our conversations at home, at work and within our communities.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>How many conflicts begin because someone misunderstood what another person meant?<\/li>\n<li>How many relationships are damaged because we assumed someone&#8217;s intention instead of asking?<\/li>\n<li>How many arguments continue because neither person is willing to listen?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Muhammad \ufdfa showed us the importance of <strong>listening as well as speaking.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>He gave people his attention and allowed them to express themselves.<\/p>\n<p>And when he \ufdfa spoke, his words carried purpose.<\/p>\n<p>There was no need to fill every silence.<\/p>\n<p>No need to win every argument.<\/p>\n<p>No need to have the final word.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps that&#8217;s something our world desperately needs today:<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Less reaction.
