We find a human being whose character showed people how to live.

Allah describes him ﷺ as being upon an عظیم character — an عظیم standard of character.

His ﷺ greatness wasn’t only seen in extraordinary moments. It was seen in the ordinary moments of everyday life.

He ﷺ was truthful when lying might have been easier.

He ﷺ was trustworthy when there was nothing to gain.

He ﷺ showed mercy when he had every reason to be angry.

And he ﷺ remained humble despite being a leader followed by thousands.

Think about that.

Today, success can easily make people feel superior.

A position can change the way someone treats others.

Money can create distance.

Influence can create ego.

But Muhammad ﷺ showed something very different.

He ﷺ would sit with his companions without creating a sense that he was above them. He ﷺ would help his family at home. He ﷺ would visit the sick and respond to the needs of ordinary people.

His ﷺ greatness never required him to make others feel small.

And perhaps that’s one of the most powerful lessons for our world today.

True character is revealed by how we treat people who cannot benefit us.

It’s easy to be polite to someone important.

It’s easy to smile at someone who can open a door for us.

But how do we treat the person who cleans our workplace?

How do we speak to someone who serves us?

How do we treat someone who disagrees with us?

How do we behave when nobody is watching?

That is where character is tested.

Muhammad ﷺ also showed us that correcting someone doesn’t require destroying their dignity.

He ﷺ could disagree without hatred.

He ﷺ could correct without humiliating.

He ﷺ could lead without arrogance.

And he ﷺ could have power without allowing power to corrupt his character.

So perhaps becoming a better human isn’t about becoming perfect overnight.

It’s about asking ourselves simple questions every day:

Am I becoming more truthful?

More patient?

More forgiving?

More generous?

More humble?

More compassionate?

Because following Muhammad ﷺ isn’t only about admiring his character.

It is about allowing his character to transform ours.

And perhaps this is where the compass becomes personal.

We cannot control everything happening in the world.

We cannot fix every injustice.

We cannot change every person.

But we can choose who we become.

When the world chooses arrogance — we can choose humility.

When it chooses cruelty — we can choose mercy.

When it chooses dishonesty — we can choose truth.

When it chooses selfishness — we can choose generosity.

When it chooses anger — we can choose patience.

That is how change begins.

Muhammad ﷺ: Humanity’s Compass in a Sea of Chaos The Way Forward Becoming a Better Human – The Character the World Is Missing We spend a lot of time talking about what is wrong with the world.
