• <\/span>Apply a small amount of baby oil with some cotton wool or on kitchen roll and rub it on stainless steel hobs, kettles, or microwaves (which you have previously cleaned).This gives a streak free look and keeps them looking like new – it also makes it easier to wipe any off any later spills.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n • <\/span>To make stainless steel shine use some baby oil on a cloth or kitchen roll – it comes up a treat.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n • <\/span>Squeeze a lemon into a bowl of hot water. Place the bowl in the microwave and heat on full power for a few minutes. <\/span>The steam and lemon juice should loosen any food deposits so that they can simply be wiped away. This also makes the kitchen smell fresh.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n • <\/span>Although I use filtered water for my kettle it still gets clogged. Once a year I put in vinegar, and boil the kettle. I leave it to sit for a few hours. Then I rinse it a few times and boil some water, which I then throw away. If you have an extension cable and the weather is good this can be done outside.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n • <\/span>If your dishwasher has lime scale deposits put a small bowl of white vinegar onto a shelf and run it on the hottest cycle. This will also remove any smells.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n • <\/span>It is worth running the dishwasher empty on a hottest wash cycle twice a year. This cleans out detergent deposits and makes the dishwasher more effective.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n • <\/span>If you have a dishwasher you should always put sharp knives into the cutlery holder handle up. This way when you plunge your arm into the machine to empty it you won't get cut.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n • <\/span>At the back of fridges and freezers is a black metal grid, which is part of the condenser coil. <\/span>This is where the appliances get rid of heat. . Over time dust collects on the grid and acts like an insulating blanket making the appliance less efficient and wasting money. <\/span>So it makes sense to move then away from the wall and vacuum or dust the grid a couple of times a year. <\/span>The drain reservoir and the floor underneath can be cleaned at the same time.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n •The more ice has built up inside your freezer the less efficient it becomes.
