{"id":13417,"date":"2014-10-30T06:13:44","date_gmt":"2014-10-30T04:13:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dev.radioislam.org.za\/wordpress\/2014\/10\/30\/khicro-recipe-mixed-cereal-broth-30-10-14\/"},"modified":"2014-10-30T06:13:44","modified_gmt":"2014-10-30T04:13:44","slug":"khicro-recipe-mixed-cereal-broth-30-10-14","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/radioislam.org.za\/a\/khicro-recipe-mixed-cereal-broth-30-10-14\/","title":{"rendered":"Khicro recipe &#8211; mixed cereal broth (30.10.14)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">Ingredients:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">500g soup bones(do not cut off the meat from bones as this is a broth and not a soup)<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">2 pieces tuj<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">A few elachi peppers and cloves<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">2 cups of mixed cereal(which we have made up in this way)<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">3\/4 cup wheat<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">1\/4 cup rice<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">2 tbl spoons oil dhal<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">2 tbl spoons barley<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">2 tbl spoons chana dhal<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">1 tsp salt<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">1 medium sized onion<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">1\/4 cup dhania<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">2 tsp salt(coarse)<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">1 tsp arad<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">1 tsp chillies<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">1 tsp dhunia jheeru powder<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">2 tsp ginger garlic<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">1 tsp whole jheeru<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">4 or 5 green chillies pounded up<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">1 tsp garam masala<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">Boil the cereals\/dhals\u00a0 in sufficient salt water until thoroughly cooked.Grind through mincer with the liquid. Do not drain off any excess water.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">Method:<\/span><\/strong><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">Slice onion and fry in ghee with jheeru until golden brown. Add the bones with the masala&#8217;s except garam masala&#8217;s and the pounded green chillies till bones are well coated with them. Fill the pot with water and cook over medium heat till meat on bone is tender. Grind the cereal and add to pot. Stir thoroughly and mix well. Let cook for atleast 40 minutes til broth is thick. Fry a few slices of onion in a little ghee and pour over broth. Stir in the garam masala and garnish with the cut greens a little before serving.
