{"id":16356,"date":"2015-11-19T12:38:18","date_gmt":"2015-11-19T10:38:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dev.radioislam.org.za\/wordpress\/2015\/11\/19\/a-selection-of-recipes-ideal-for-a-garden-tea-19-11-15\/"},"modified":"2015-11-19T12:38:18","modified_gmt":"2015-11-19T10:38:18","slug":"a-selection-of-recipes-ideal-for-a-garden-tea-19-11-15","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/radioislam.org.za\/a\/a-selection-of-recipes-ideal-for-a-garden-tea-19-11-15\/","title":{"rendered":"A selection of recipes ideal for a garden tea (19.11.15)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">Brushetta<br \/><\/span><\/strong><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">Bruschetta Cut bread about 1cm in diameter and toast in oven until golden brown.<br \/><\/span><br \/><strong><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">The filling:<\/span><\/strong><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">1 green pepper diced<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">1 red pepper diced<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">1 yellow pepper diced<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">Small marrow diced<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">1 punnet mushrooms sliced 1 onion sliced<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">Stir fry veggies and season with salt and pepper<br \/><\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">Place veggies on each slice of the bread and add avocado diced and to garnish add a dollop of sour cream and season with crushed black pepper.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><br \/><strong><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">Lemon ice tea\u00a0 &#8211;<\/span><\/strong><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">In a pot throw 2 litres of boiling water onto 10 lemon grass leaves (do not boil) allow 2 cool.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">Add 1 cup sugar, 1 cup lime cordial, juice of 1\/2 lemon and lemon slices<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">3 Cups boiling water<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">3 lemon five rose tea bags.<br \/><\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">Leave to brew add three quarter cup lime cordial to it. Add Sprite or Lemonade.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">Mix everything together. Serve chilled with lemon slices and mint. ENJOY.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><br \/><strong><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">Fruit sticks\u00a0 &#8211; <\/span><\/strong><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">U will need <\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">Fruit watermelon rough melon spanspek pineapples grapes strawberry <\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">Cut melons and pineapples in bite size pieces Put fruit through sticks Garnish on platter Serve ice cold Enjoy<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">Milk tart<\/span><\/strong><br \/><strong><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">Base<\/span><\/strong><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">4 tbl sugar<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">4 tbl butter<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">2 cups flour<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">3 tsp baking powder<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">2 eggs<br \/><\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">Beat butter and sugar till creamy, add 1 egg at a time and beat. Add flour and baking powder to form dough, roll cut and bake. Once baked make custard and add to base <br \/><\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>Custard:<\/strong> <\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">1 tin condensed milk<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">1 Tblspn butter<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">3 tins water (condensed milk tin measurements) <\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">Boil the above and add <\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">1\/2 cup maziena (make a paste with water) <\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">1 tsp Vanilla essence<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">Add to the milk mixture n beat well<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">Pour over baked tart<br \/><\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">Optional: spread nestle cream on the custard once it&#8217;s cool and you can dust over cinnamon as well serve and enjoy.<br \/><\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>MINI CAKES<\/strong> <\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">\u00bd lb butter<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">1 \u00bd cups castor sugar<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">4 eggs<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">3 cups flour<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">1 \u00bc cup milk<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">4 tsp baking powder<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">Vanilla \/ caramel essence<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">\u00a0<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">Beat butter + sugar until light + fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add flour + milk. Beat till smooth. Lastly add baking powder and essence. Bake in desired mini pans @ 180C till done .<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">\u00a0<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">Decor: use whipped cream, caramel or icing chocolate transfer sheets as desired. Decorate to tantalize the taste buds<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">SPICY CHICKEN STRIPS<\/span><\/strong><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">4 pieces of chicken fillets cut into strips<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">Marinate with:<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">1 teaspoon garlic<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">1 teaspoon ground green chillies<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">1\u20444 teaspoon lemon pepper<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">2 tablespoon lemon juice<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">Make a bhajia batter with:<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">\u00a0\u00bd cup chana flour<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">\u00bc cup cake flour<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">Green chilies and salt to taste<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva;
