These tips are for anyone who commutes, whether you are a driver or you use public transport, or you simply walking to the store, EVERYONE should take precaution. Through empowering people with these simple tips I believe that it will save people the trauma and may even save lives. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 of the vehicle<\/span>
\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0opening front doors when you have not positively identified
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 who is outside<\/span>
\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0leaving keys in full view of the opened door causing the
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 attacker to hold
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 a gun on you and make you unlock doors and gates
<\/span>\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0not being alert in parking lots <\/span>
\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0trusting a clean cut, neat looking stranger<\/span>
\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0getting too cosy in conversation with strangers not
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 realising its a distraction<\/span>
\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0keeping cellphones\u00a0 in full view of passers by\u00a0 when driving<\/span>
\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0pulling over when someone drives next to you and points
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 out that there is
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 something wrong with your car<\/span>
\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0texting and driving<\/span>
\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0wearing earphones when traveling <\/span>
\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0falling asleep in the taxi<\/span>
\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0allowing hawkers to distract us with items being sold at
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 traffic lights<\/span>
\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0allowing hawkers to wash windscreens at traffic lights<\/span><\/p>\nSafety Tips when Traveling, Commuting or Staying Home

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0try to use reputable taxis, take note of the registration
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 number <\/span>
\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0do not check messages when stopping at a red traffic light,
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 your distraction will increase
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 your chance of being a victim of a smash and g<\/span>rab<\/span>
\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0leave car windows open at 2.5cm or a quarter of a finger\u2019s
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 length so that if an object is
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 thrown, it decreases the chance of the window <\/span>reaking<\/span>
\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0always keep children seated in the vehicle and ensure they
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 have their seat belts on<\/span>
\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0call or sms a friend or family member and update them on
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 your route and where you are<\/span>
\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0always sit close to the door for an easy escape<\/span>
\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0keep expensive items out of sight (jewellery, cellphone,
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 ipad, labtops)<\/span>
\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0have the right fare ready to avoid delays<\/span>
\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0trust your gut, if you feel awkward get out before your
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 planned destination<\/span>
\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0carry self defence spray or an electric teyzer to give you
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 time to escape, scream or run<\/span>
\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0before entering the parking lot, make sure you have your
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 keys, parking ticket and self defence spray or shocker
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 ready, do not be <\/span>fumbling in your bag on your way to the
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 car,\u00a0 you will make for an easy target<\/span>
\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0do not keep all your money in one place<\/span>
\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0do not fall asleep in public transport<\/span>
\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0wear only one earphone so you are able to be aware of
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 your surroundings<\/span>
\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0if you get lost don\u2019t\u00a0 make it obvious<\/span>
\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0park in well lit places and look at the back seat of your car
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 before jumping in<\/span>
\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0when walking keep to well lit areas and on busy streets,
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 avoid quiet shortcuts<\/span>
\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0stay alert when pulling into your driveway, if you suspect
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 you\u00a0 are being followed or watched, DO NOT pull into your
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 driveway, rather d<\/span>rive to the police station and ALERT your
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 neighbors<\/span>
\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0install applications such as \u201cPhone Tracker\u201c on yours and
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 your loved ones phones so you are able to easily point out
