Also called heat rash prickly heat looks like tiny bumps surrounded by an area of red skin. It usually occurs on clothed parts of the body, such as the back, abdomen, neck, upper chest, groin or armpits and goes away on its own within a few days. In severe forms, however, prickly heat can interfere with the body\u2019s heat-regulating mechanism and cause fever, heat exhaustion and even death.<br \/><\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Prickly heat occurs most often in hot, humid conditions, but you may develop it in cool weather if you are overdressed. The condition usually appears a few days to a few months after exposure to a hot, humid environment. It\u2019s most common in infants. Newborns are particularly vulnerable to prickly heat because their sweat ducts are not mature, which makes it easier for the beads of moisture to be trapped.<br \/><\/span><br \/><strong><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Home Treatment:<\/span><\/strong><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Gently wash skin with soft gauze and lukewarm water and pat on a mixture of one part alcohol to three parts boiled water after cooled. Dust with Talcum powder Or, use baking soda in a little water than dust with talcum.<br \/><\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Try a cool compress. While a thin coating of mild, water-based moisturizing lotion may help stop the itching, cool compresses sometimes work better. Make a compress by dipping a washcloth in a mixture of one teaspoon of baking soda per cup of cool water. Apply to the rash for five to ten minutes. Do this four or five times a day<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Oatmeal<\/span><\/strong><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Oatmeal is a popular treatment for prickly rash due to its anti-irritating, <\/span>anti-inflammatory<span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\"> and soothing properties. It will have a soothing effect on the skin and give instant relief from inflammation and itching caused by prickly heat.<br \/><\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">1. Add one cup of finely ground oatmeal powder to a bathtub filled with cool water. Stir well, until the water gets a milky color.<br \/><\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">2. Soak in this bath for 20 to 30 minutes.<br \/><\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">3. Pat dry your body with a soft towel.<br \/><\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">4. Place it on the affected areas for five to 10 minutes at a time. Repeat every four to six hours for two to three days. This will prevent the rashes from getting worse and spreading further.<br \/><\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">\u2022 Alternatively, you can soak a cotton cloth in cold water, wring out the excess water and place it over the affected area for five to 10 minutes. Repeat three or four times a day for about a week.<br \/><\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">\u2022 You can also take a cold shower or bath as needed to reduce the intensity of prickly heat symptoms.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Sandalwood Powder<\/span><\/strong><br \/><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Sandalwood has soothing properties that can effectively eliminate prickly heat symptoms.
