Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News – 20-06-2018<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n A tech expert has told Radio Islam it\u2019s socially unacceptable to view other peoples phones when they are using them, but there is no legal recourse to stop them from doing so.<\/p>\n This comes after a Midrand woman was booted off a Kulula flight from Johannesburg’s OR Tambo International to Durban’s King Shaka Airport for referring to a black flight captain and passengers using the k-word.<\/p>\n It\u2019s understood that 26-year-old Alochna Moodley admitted to using the slur\u201a blaming it on frustration.<\/p>\n Moodley was called out by Reverend Solumuzi Mabuza who was seated next to her and saw her typing the k-word on her phone.<\/p>\n Worldwide Worx Arthur Goldstuck says you can\u2019t stop people from peeking over your shoulder when using your phone in public.<\/p>\n \u201cIf you want to be typing in public on your phone, than you should do it in a way that keeps its private from other people. But the response to that invasion of privacy was clearly, completely out of proportion to the actual invasion of privacy.\u201d<\/p>\n He says Moodley has no legal precedent to act against Mabuza.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s unlikely that there\u2019s a legal precedent for taking actions against someone who looks at what you were typing on a screen. It\u2019s up to you to take precautions to type privately. It\u2019s not for other people to have to avert their eyes from what you are doing.\u201d<\/p>\n Goldstuck says there are screen protectors and covers that allows\u00a0you to type privately and to keep your phone at angle which prevents people from seeing what you are typing.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n
