{"id":23802,"date":"2018-10-18T15:49:40","date_gmt":"2018-10-18T13:49:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dev.radioislam.org.za\/wordpress\/2018\/10\/18\/vodacom-ceo-shameel-joosub-data-doesn-t-disappear\/"},"modified":"2018-10-18T15:49:40","modified_gmt":"2018-10-18T13:49:40","slug":"vodacom-ceo-shameel-joosub-data-doesn-t-disappear","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/radioislam.org.za\/a\/vodacom-ceo-shameel-joosub-data-doesn-t-disappear\/","title":{"rendered":"Vodacom CEO Shameel Joosub: &#8220;Data Doesn&#8217;t Disappear&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><em>Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News &#8211; 18-10-2018<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Vodacom CEO Shameel Joosub says data doesn\u2019t disappear but rather how consumers use data.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Joosub was speaking at the My Broadband conference at the Gallagher Estate in Midrand on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">While the Competition Commission has started hearings about the cost of data and how it can be reduced in Africa\u2019s most advanced economy, there have been a number of complaints from users who say their data disappear on a monthly basis.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Joosub says there is a lot of consumer education around data usage including Vodacom\u2019s Data Wise initiative which assists users manage their data better.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cSimple thing, close your app, because if you don\u2019t close the app, it\u2019s chowing data. That\u2019s just reality, so that\u2019s the one part. The second part is that the networks are becoming so much faster. If you had an hour two years ago versus an hour now, you\u2019re consuming three, four times as much data in that same hour.
