Google has banned apps on its app Play Store that facilitate the sale of marijuana or related products as part of a change to its content policy.<\/p>\n
A Google spokesperson told Reuters Developers only need to move their shopping cart option outside the app to comply with the new policy.<\/p>\n
Google says it\u2019s working with developers to answer technical questions and help them implement the changes without customer disruption.<\/p>\n
Existing apps have 30 days post launch to comply with the policy.<\/p>\n
The Verge reports that Apple\u2019s App Store already bans \u201cfacilitating the sale of marijuana, tobacco, or controlled substances\u201d or \u201cencourag[ing] consumption of tobacco products, illegal drugs, or excessive amounts of alcohol\u201d through apps.<\/p>\n
This has led it to ban marijuana-related apps in the past, although it\u2019s eased up since then. Weedmaps and Eaze both operate on iOS, but they don\u2019t offer in-app ordering.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
