Apple has opened registration for a series of new art-based Today at Apple augmented reality (AR) experiences, called [AR]T, offered at Apple\u00a0Stores around the world.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The three new sessions include an interactive walk featuring works by some of the world\u2019s premier contemporary artists, an in-store session that teaches the\u00a0basics of creating AR using Swift Playgrounds and an AR art installation viewable in every Apple Store worldwide.\u00a0<\/p>\n

To create the sessions Apple invited the New Museum, a leading destination for contemporary art in New York, to select seven artists \u2014 Nick Cave, Nathalie Djurberg and Hans Berg,\u00a0Cao Fei, John Giorno, Carsten H\u00f6ller and Pipilotti Rist \u2014 to participate in an experiential project that is free to the public.<\/p>\n

Apple\u2019s senior vice president of Retail + People Deirdre O\u2019Brien says the company is offering a window into the creative arts made possible by their products and customers.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe hope\u00a0attendees are inspired by the incredible AR creations in the [AR]T Walk and in-store installation, and we can\u2019t wait to see what our visitors learn to create in the [AR]T Lab.\u201d<\/p>\n

All three sessions are available beginning\u00a010 August\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

At the same time, Apple announced its financial results for its fiscal 2019 third quarter ended 29 June 29.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Company posted quarterly revenue of $53.8 billion, an increase of 1 percent from the year-ago quarter, and quarterly earnings per diluted share\u00a0of $2.18, down 7 percent. International sales accounted for 59 percent of the quarter\u2019s revenue.<\/p>\n

Apple CEO Tim Cooks says this is the company\u2019s biggest June quarter ever and the results are promising across\u00a0all geographic segments\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cDriven by all-time record revenue from Services, accelerating growth from Wearables, strong\u00a0performance from iPad and Mac and significant improvement in iPhone trends\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Cook says the balance of calendar 2019 will be an exciting period, with major\u00a0launches on all of Apple\u2019s platforms with new services and several new products.<\/p>\n
