When making compost, simply mix crushed eggshells with the green component. The calcium content of your compost will greatly increase, making the soil richer. Your plants, in turn, will be more robust.

Pest Repellent – Scattering crushed eggshells on the leaves of plants can keep soft-bodied pests away from your plants. Snails and slugs, known as notorious leaf eaters, will hurt their bellies if they run over the jagged corners of crushed eggshells. Once they get hurt, they will move away from your garden as soon as possible.

CLEANING DRAINS

You don't have to use expensive, harsh, toxic chemicals to clean your drains
anymore. Egg shells are excellent for this job, without any harshness to your
hands, sink or drains. Just crush the shells as fine as you can and let them sit in the sink drain basket. Each time the water runs, the egg shells will make their
way through to your drain pipes. Egg shells act as a safe abrasive and will help to
get rid of any grease or hair buildup or whatever other unidentified refuse you've
had accumulating. Be sure to save all your egg shells, enough to do all the drains
in your home. You'll find that your pipes will be cleared and always flowing smoothly.

Less Bitter Coffee
Add an eggshell to the coffee in the filter, and your morning coffee will be less bitter. The spent coffee grounds, eggshell, and bio-degradable filter are then conveniently ready for the compost pile.

Treat Skin Irritations
dissolve an eggshell in a small jar of apple cider vinegar (takes about two days) and use the mixture to treat minor skin irritations and itchy skin.

Eco-friendly household abrasive
Shake up crushed eggshells and a little soapy water to scour hard-to-clean items like thermoses and vases. Crushed eggshells can also be used as a non-toxic abrasive on pots and pans.

—
Ammarah
Radio Islam
+27118547022
ammarah@radioislam.co.za
www.radioislam.co.za

DID YOU KNOW THAT EGGSHELLS HAVE MANY USES THAT COULD CERTAINLY BE OF BENEFIT …? SO THE NEXT TIME YOU BREAK OPEN AN EGG FOR BREAKFAST OR BAKING DO NOT THROW THEM INTO THE GARBAGE, RATHER USE THEM IN THESE WAYS …..
