Thursday 20131003 – The days of Jaahiliyya or Ignorance, as Sh Ibrahim explains, was a result of people’s indifference toward their Creator. They frowned at the mere mention of Almighty ALLAH’s exalted names but rejoiced when objects were praised, especially those wherefrom they assumed benefit could be derived. The essence of Prophethood was to establish a link between creation and Creator; mankind and their Maker, ALLAH Ta'aala.<\/p>\n
Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu’Alayhi Wa Sallam) taught us how to connect with our Lord. The first step towards attaining this connection is Salaah, Prayer. Salaah, as defined in Islam, nourishes; maintains; promotes and comforts mind, body and soul.
Contrary to erroneous perceptions, Salaah is an obligation, not a choice. Muhammad (Sallallahu’Alayhi Wa Sallam) emphasised thus, “Baynal Rajul Wa Baynal Kufr Tarkus Salaah – Between a man and disbelief is discarding Salaah.”<\/p>\n
Amazingly enough, performance of Salaah can be traced to the earliest of generations beginning with the blessed Prophet Ibrahim (‘Alayhi Salaam – Peace be upon him):

“My Lord, make me an establisher of prayer, and [many] from my descendants. Our Lord, and accept my supplication.” (Qur’an 14:40)<\/p>\n
The pressures and challenges facing the Ummah (Muslim community) today are colossal. However, the remedy can be simple; establishing and holding firm to the daily Prayers together with having Tawakkul (reliance on Almighty alone). In doing so we would undoubtedly attract the Help and Mercy of Almighty, The Most-Compassionate and we would surely witness a huge change throughout the world.<\/p>\n
