They feed on small insects found in ponds, rivers, creeks, and streams. A small group of frogs can keep down the number of mosquitoes and flies that breed and populate in bodies of water. Frogs are very important in the ecosystem because they help control insect populations, especially those that spread disease and illnesses. The problem is that frogs can be very noisy, and multiply so fast that their own population runs out of control.

Sayyidina Abdurrahman ibn Uthman (radiallaho anho) narrates that a physician asked the Prophet(sallallaho alayhi wa sallam) about the permissibility of killing frogs and the Prophet(saw) forbade it. In a narration in Nisa-ee there is a narration from Ibn Umar(radiallaho Anho) saying “Do not kill frogs, for their voice is Tasbeeh(glorification of Allah)

If you have a problem with having too many frogs in your home, garden or yard, here are some ways to to scare them away. Anything that involves the removal of animals should be done in a safe, humane way. Another natural way to get rid of frogs using citric acid or caffeine is to compost citrus peels and coffee grounds in places where frogs breed. The odour of citrus and coffee grounds will turn off the frogs, and prevent them from coming back to breed and spawn in your property.

Eliminate favourable habitats. Old wood piles, pots, ferns, shrubs, and other relatively dark, damp places can provide convenient places for frogs to hide and breed, so if it is possible to get rid of these without damaging your property, you might want to do so. If you have pets, loose pet food and water dishes can also attract frogs, so these are additional items to consider removing.

Another method is to take used coffee grounds, mix them with water and spread it around the perimeter of the house… Inhibit Growth of Grasses- Grasses also are the favorable dwellings for the frogs to hide in and croak there from in the night. Keep your lawn free from grasses if you really seek to get rid of frogs and their bitter songs.

This may sound crazy, but get a cat or leave yours out of doors for a few nights…..I used to have the same problem in my backyard, and when I got a cat, the noise vanished A mixture of water and bleach, salt or vinegar can be used to scare them away…

Frogs are relatively harmless creatures, and are helpful and beneficial to the environment.
