Although cockroaches play an important role in recycling the ecosystem, finding their presence in your kitchen sink or cabinet can be a big concern<\/p>\n
Cockroaches set up camp in locations that provide easy access to food and water. They become most active during the night and in dark places, making your kitchen cabinets a perfect place to hide. By using a few common household products, you can lure cockroaches out of your cabinets and kill them so the entire colony is eventually eradicated. Commercial insecticides complete the job but contain chemicals. Home remedies are equally effective, save you money and prevent chemical exposure.<\/p>\n
Baking Soda for Natural Pest Control
Place equal parts of baking soda and powdered sugar in a shallow bowl (like a plastic butter bowl) they will gather around and eat this sweet treat and it will kill them. KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN AND PETS<\/p>\n
Boric Acid is Good for Cockroach Control
This is toxic so keep it away from all children, pets, food, dishes, pots and pans You can sprinkle boric acid down any cracks or crevices, it's the treatment of choice for all hard to reach areas. This is the one of the poisons that roaches haven't developed a resistance to.<\/p>\n
Roaches absolutely hate cucumber, so just take some cucumber peelings and place them wherever a problem exists and the roaches will find a new home. They also hate bay leaves, cayenne and catnip. If you make a sachet out of catnip and place them in your cupboards you'll never see roaches there again. You can also use catnip tea to spray the areas.<\/p>\n
•Use powdered sugar to get rid of cockroaches from the kitchen cabinets. You can place small bowls or small bottle caps to keep powdered sugar inside the cabinets. You can also mix sugar powder with boric acid powder and keep them inside the cabinets. <\/p>\n
•Cloves are a spice that we add to make curries, gravies and herbal tea. You can use this spice to get rid of cockroaches permanently. Place few whole cloves inside the cabinets. Keep changing after a week to prevent the cockroaches from entering the cabinets. <\/p>\n
•Borax powder is an insecticide that can be used for home cleaning. Just clean the kitchen cabinets fortnightly if you get too many cockroaches. If you have 2-4 small cockroaches, just sprinkle borax powder once. If the power goes and cockroaches come again, maintain the schedule of 15 days. <\/p>\n
•In a bowl, add little baking soda powder. Keep the bowl in the cabinet and close the cabinet. Replace soda in bowl after 10-15 days as the power and smell goes away due to moisture.<\/div>\n
Roach Balls
1 cup borax
1\/4 cup granulated sugar
1\/4 cup chopped onion
1 tablespoon cornstarch<\/p>\n
Make a paste of the ingredients and roll the paste into little balls. Place two or three balls into a sandwich-size plastic bag and leave the top open. Place the bag anywhere you have a roach problem. The roaches will eat the balls and carry them away. The bugs die at home, out of sight, and other roaches eat those carcasses and so on. The onion scent draws them in. This recipe makes about 50 balls for about 10 applications. There is one caution. Hide these bags carefully so that children and pets can't get at them<\/div>\n
