However, we live in such an excessive society that often materialism takes over our true purpose in life.<br \/>\nUltimate happiness does not rely upon worldly possessions. In fact, studies have shown that materialism is associated with diminished wellbeing, higher levels of envy, and increased rates of mental illness.<br \/>\nGratitude has actually been shown to reduce feelings of materialism and its subsequent negative effects. Greater expressions of gratitude were associated with lower materialism and a higher life satisfaction.<\/p>\n<p>The Soul<br \/>\n<strong>5) Better Relationship with Allah<\/strong><br \/>\nGratitude is one of the most beloved characteristics to Allah. How could we worship Him without being thankful? How could we know Allah without knowing His blessings?<br \/>\nBeing thankful is one of the best ways to gain the nearness of Allah (SWT). It invokes His mercy and love upon us. A grateful attitude causes Allah (SWT) to increase our blessings. And We will reward the grateful. [Quran, 3:145]<\/p>\n<p><strong>6) Better Relationship with Others<\/strong><br \/>\nPositive reinforcement during good times reinforces your relationships with each other. Try this with your spouse, parents or your children today. When you get a little help from them, celebrate it. Show some genuine gratitude. You\u2019ll bond better. You\u2019ll grow happier with each other, and your family will thrive bi\u2019ithnillah. It is an easy, but effective way of raising your positivity ratio.<br \/>\nMessenger of Allah (\ufdfa) said:<br \/>\n\u0642\u064e\u0627\u0644\u064e \u0631\u064e\u0633\u064f\u0648\u0644\u064f \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0651\u064e\u0647\u0650 \u0635\u0644\u0649 \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0647 \u0639\u0644\u064a\u0647 \u0648\u0633\u0644\u0645 \u200f &#8220;\u200f \u0645\u064e\u0646\u0652 \u0644\u0627\u064e \u064a\u064e\u0634\u0652\u0643\u064f\u0631\u0650 \u0627\u0644\u0646\u0651\u064e\u0627\u0633\u064e \u0644\u0627\u064e \u064a\u064e\u0634\u0652\u0643\u064f\u0631\u0650 \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0651\u064e\u0647\u064e \u200f&#8221;<br \/>\n\u201cWhoever is not grateful to the people, he is not grateful to Allah.\u201d [Tirmidhi]<\/p>\n<p><strong>7) Abundance in Life<\/strong><br \/>\nShukr, or thankfulness, is a quality that will lead to success both in this life and in the next.
