It stands not for life-denial, but for life-fulfilment.<br \/>\nIslam does not teach monasticism. In fact a tradition says:<br \/>\n\u0644\u0627\u064e \u0631\u064e\u0647\u0652\u0628\u064e\u0627\u0646\u0650\u064a\u0651\u064e\u0629\u064e \u0641\u0650\u064a \u0627\u0644\u0625\u0650\u0633\u0652\u0644\u0627\u064e\u0645\u0650<br \/>\n\u201cThere is no (room for) monasticism in Islam\u201d [This tradition has been reported in Majma&#8217;ul Bayan under \u0631\u0647\u0628 as also in al-Nihayah of Ibn Kathir]<br \/>\nIt does not ask man to avoid material things. It holds that spiritual elevation is to be achieved by living piously in the rough and tumble of life and not by renouncing the world. The Quran advises us to supplicate and pray as follows:<br \/>\n\u0648\u064e\u0645\u0650\u0646\u0652\u0647\u064f\u0645 \u0645\u0651\u064e\u0646 \u064a\u064e\u0642\u064f\u0648\u0644\u064f \u0631\u064e\u0628\u0651\u064e\u0646\u064e\u0627\u0653 \u0621\u064e\u0627\u062a\u0650\u0646\u064e\u0627 \u0641\u0650\u0649 \u0671\u0644\u062f\u0651\u064f\u0646\u0652\u064a\u064e\u0627 \u062d\u064e\u0633\u064e\u0646\u064e\u0629\u064b \u0648\u064e\u0641\u0650\u0649 \u0671\u0644\u0652\u0640\u0654\u064e\u0627\u062e\u0650\u0631\u064e\u0629\u0650 \u062d\u064e\u0633\u064e\u0646\u064e\u0629\u064b \u0648\u064e\u0642\u0650\u0646\u064e\u0627 \u0639\u064e\u0630\u064e\u0627\u0628\u064e \u0671\u0644\u0646\u0651\u064e\u0627\u0631\u0650<br \/>\n\u2026 Our Lord! Give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and defend us from the torment of the Fire! (Quran 2:201)<br \/>\nThe Prophet \ufdfa also said: [the meaning of which is]<\/p>\n<p>A Muslim who lives in the midst of society and bears with patience the afflictions that come to him is better than the one who shuns society and cannot bear any wrong done to him.<\/p>\n<p>He also directed Muslims to keep the balance by saying:<br \/>\nKeep fast and break it (at the proper time) and stand in prayer and devotion (in the night) and have sleep \u2013 for your body has its rights over you, and your eyes rights over you, and your wife has a claim upon you, and the person who pays a visit to you has a claim upon you.<\/p>\n<p>Thus Islam does not admit any separation between \u201cmaterial\u201d and \u201cmoral\u201d, \u201cmundane\u201d and \u201cspiritual\u201d life. Islam teaches us that moral and material powers must be welded together.<\/p>\n<p>Spiritual salvation can be achieved by using material resources for the good of man in the service of just ends, and not by living a life of asceticism or by running away from the challenges of life!<\/p>\n<p>Islam aims at establishing equilibrium between these two aspects of life \u2013 the material and the spiritual. It says that everything in the world is for man \u2013 but man himself is for the service of a higher purpose.<\/p>\n<p>This is the establishment of a moral and just order, so as to fulfil the Will of Allah. Its teachings cater for the spiritual as well as the temporal needs of man.<\/p>\n<p>Islam urges man to purify his soul and to give supremacy to virtue over vice.
