It has 28 bones, including the wrist, all wonderfully balanced. No wonder it has so much mobility and expression. In fact, the hands can speak a language of their own.

On the backside of hands, the skin is soft and thin. It is prone to early wrinkling. On the palm, the skin is thick and tough. The palm has no sebaceous glands, like most other parts of the body have. Therefore, it has no natural lubrication and can become exceedingly dry and rough. The skin chaps easily. The use of detergents compounds the problem, giving you a pair of hands that you wish you could hide. The hands also show up age quicker than most parts of the body. So prevention through daily care is the only answer for making you a beautiful woman.

Taking control of total beauty care does not solely rest on the face. Beauty care is taking care of your body, face, hands and feet. Sometimes when we set up beauty regimens we neglect the hands but aside from the face, your hands are the most seen part of the body. You use your hands everyday and with everyday tasks so why not take care of them. We can offer you some tips on what to do to keep your hands silky smooth all year around.

Your hands take on a lot of abuse from using them on a minute to minute basis as well as the weather. Let’s start with the number one skin condition that every woman or man has, it is called Dish Pan Hands and while this is not the medical name, you still get rough hands from washing dishes on a daily basis. You may think that would be impossible because they ware in water, but water can damage your hands.

There are some things you can do to help in keeping your hands soft. You can add a little almond oil to the dishwater; this will help keep your hands smooth. Or if you wish to use more home remedies, you could wear gloves while you do the dishes. Then after you are done with the dishes use lotion like Nivea or Lubriderm to help keep them soft. Always use a mild dish soap when doing dishes as well.

Weather also plays a role in skin damage for your hands. If it is winter, before putting on gloves put lotion on your hands and then slip on your gloves on. When you come home take off your gloves and put lotion on again. If your hands are still cold after gloves, some people run their hands under water to warm them up but don’t do it. The water and the cold skin will only damage the skin.

If you want to keep up with your hand beauty treatment, then here is some soothing

Ideas you should do on a weekly basis.

Buy some lemon sea salt and mix with water. Brush it gently into your hands with a soft old toothbrush and then rinse, continue with lotion and you will feel your hands becoming smoother by the day.

Another way to keep your hands soft is by washing your hands with warm water use a coarse wash cloth; when you have your hands slightly wet, using a teaspoon of honey and one teaspoon of olive oil, rub the mixture all over your hands. Then put small plastic bags over your hands and then put gloves on top for about 30. The heat from the bags and the gloves will allow the mixture to absorb into your skin. Wash off the remaining mixture.

One more tip that may work for you, take a warm cup of milk and then place your hands in the milk and soak them for about 5 minutes. This will help strengthen your nails and it will also hydrate the skin. Milk is full of lactic acid and natural acids and it actually exfoliates the dead skin.

If your hands are tired, give them an instant reviving treatment. Soak them for a few minutes in warm water, to which about two to three tablespoons of salt have been added. This helps to soothe them and get rid of waste debris and scales.

Another treatment which stimulates circulation is to soak them alternatively in hot and cold water. This also soothes the nerve endings.

Homemade Almond Hand Cream
Almond Oil 2 tsp
Honey 1 tsp

Mix honey with almond oil and massage on the hands. Put on a pair of old cotton gloves and sleep in them. Wash off the hands in warm soapy water in the morning. The hands will be soft. Repeat it the following night if necessary.

Hand Sugar Exfoliant
Mix two tablespoons of oil (vegetable, olive, baby or safflower oil) with three tablespoons of sugar (using coarse sugar will be better) and form a paste. Gently rub the paste on your hands and continue doing so for 2-3 minutes. Wash off with warm water and dry thoroughly.

Hand Softener
for coarse and dry hands, mix one tablespoon of lemon juice with a teaspoon of sugar and a little water. Apply this mixture on your hands and let it sit for 5 minutes. Wash off with warm water and dry thoroughly.

Tomato-Lime Softener
if you have rough skin on your hands, this recipe will surely prove to be handy. Take out the juice of one tomato and one lime and mix well. Add 2-3 tbsp glycerine to it and massage your hand with the mixture, for 3-4 minutes. Wash off with warm water and dry thoroughly.

Honey-Egg Softener
In a bowl put an ounce of honey, the white portion of an egg, one tsp of glycerine and some barley powder. Mix the ingredients well and apply on clean hands. Let the paste sit on your hands for a few minutes and then wash off with water.

Nourishing Hand Cream
Mix 1/3 cup of glycerine and 2/3 cups of rose water. Put the mixture in a bottle and shake it well. Store it in a cool and dry place .Massage your hands with the mixture as often as possible.

Cuticle Softener
Warm olive oil can go a long way in softening your cuticles. Just after you have taken a bath, push your cuticles back and massage warm olive oil into them. Use the tips of the fingers for the purpose.

Ammarah
Radio Islam
+27118547022
ammarah@radioislam.co.za
www.radioislam.co.za

2009-10-21: The hand is really a marvel.
