However flour can be used for many things around the house besides food.<\/p>\n
Cleaning a stainless steel sink<\/p>\n
Adding a scoop of flour to your sink gives it a brilliant shine. After cleaning, sprinkle some flour on the surface and buff it up with a soft clean cloth. A harmless method of cleaning without the use of harsh chemicals etc.<\/p>\n
Extinguishing a grease fire.
When grease spills on your cooker burners, it is very possible that this can develop very quickly into a full blown fire. Before it gets out of hand, pour flour on the flames to extinguish the fire. It will smother the flames and works in a similar way to a powder fire extinguisher. However be warned, it is an effective solution but makes one hell of a mess!<\/p>\n
Carpet spills
If you spill oil or grease on the carpet, a method to clean it is to pour flour on the spots and leave it to stand. After a period of time, the flour will have absorbed the oil\/grease and then it is a case of vacuuming it up<\/p>\n
Critter Containment
Keep the ants away from the plants by pouring a small line of flour around your pots. You can do the same with your perennials outside–just mix flour and black pepper and sprinkle on the soil.<\/p>\n
Safe paste for your Childs craft projects For a safe and non toxic paste, grab that bag of flour. Flour is the perfect and safe way to make paste for the kiddies. To make the paste add 1 cup all-purpose flour to a saucepan and stir in 3 cups of cold water. Stir the mixture constantly until it starts to boil. Reduce the heat and simmer, stirring the paste until it is thick and smooth. Cool and then pour into a squeeze bottle. When not using store in the refrigerator.<\/p>\n
