These foot problems also can make you prone to an infection. Good hygiene can ward off infections and excessive dryness, but you also need to take steps to moisturize and protect your skin throughout the winter. Dry feet can lead to excessive cracking of the skin, flaky patches, and even discharge. Your feet can also become itchy, red, and inflamed.

Winter is very hard time to bear. Skin becomes dry, and if appropriate care is not taken, it may result in itching that slowly develops into infections and an overall inconvenience. To overcome this, many people use moisturizing lotions to protect their skin from the dry weather that prevails in winter months. But, they forget to take appropriate care of their feet.

To withstand that cold breeze, we use our shoes. This is the major culprit for many foot infections seen during the winter months. To avoid these infections, it is essential to maintain perfect hygiene such as changing your socks every day. If you sweat a lot, spray some powder to prevent wet feet. The moistness of the feet due to sweating and the warmth inside the shoes is a perfect breeding ground for fungus that generally invades small gaps in the nails. Hence, it is not recommended to use shoes that are tight. At the same time, do not use shoes that are very loose. Wearing loose shoes may cause you to slip on the slippery ice surfaces that may result ankle breakage or other serious injuries. It is also essential to cut the nails short, as accumulation of dust underneath the nails increases the risk of having fungal infections. In addition to selecting perfect shoes, it is essential to use socks that allow your legs to breathe like the use of cottons socks that allow sufficient air circulation.

You can achieve a silky smoothness down to your toes with these simple steps. Read on for the instructions for DIY natural foot care!

Soak Your Feet First
When you soak your feet in water, you will need a large enough container for your footbath. Both feet will be in the footbath for ten minutes, which makes it important that your feet can rest comfortably for that period. Soak your feet up to the ankles so that you can scrub and moisturize that area too. Have a towel ready to dry your feet after the footbath.
You can use plain warm water or add a tablespoon of any salt product including baking soda, sea salt, or Epsom salts. The salt will help soften and cleanse your feet. You can make a skin enhancing herbal footbath by adding a cup of strong herbal tea. Use green, red, or black tea or your favorite herbal tea. Do not use any herbs to which you may be sensitive or allergic. Add a teaspoon of lemon juice for an exfoliating footbath. You can even add a few drops of lavender essential oil for relaxing footbath.

Temperature Of The Foot Bath
You can adjust the temperature of the water to the weather, in the summertime; the footbath may be cooler while a warmer bath may be more comfortable in the winter. As long as you keep your feet in the water for ten minutes and the water is somewhat warm at first, you will soften the skin, particularly dry skin.

Scrub The Flakes Away
After you have soaked your feet and ankles, it will be much easier to remove dry skin with a natural scrub. You can make a foot scrub in one minute or less. You will need one to two tablespoons each of a scrub ingredient and a vegetable oil. You just mix the two ingredients and instantly, you have natural foot scrub. You can use different things for your scrub ingredient including ground coffee, fine sea salt, table salt, corn meal, white sugar, and oatmeal.

Use A Scraper To Remove The Scrub
Lay newspaper under the area where you will be using the scrub. Divide the mixture and with half in your hand, begin to massage each foot with small circular movements. You do not have to apply much pressure since you are using a scrub ingredient. Just be thorough and scrub all areas of your feet and ankles. If you do not massage every area, you can see the missed spots afterwards. When you have finished, use a spatula (not rubber, it falls apart with the use of oil) to scrape off the scrub mixture. When you scrape off the scrub with a tool, it will help you to avoid using a paper product and the object that you choose for a scraper can be used again. At this point, use a small damp washcloth to wipe off any residue.

Moisturize Your Feet
Use a 1/5 teaspoon of plain vegetable oil or less to moisturize your feet. Work the oil into your foot's skin surface. Allow the oil a few minutes to soak into your skin. Natural oils and butters made from olives, sunflowers, peanuts, grape seed, almond, mango, avocado and other fruits and nuts have their own natural goodness that will enhance your skin's appearance.
It is easy to enjoy the natural skin enhancers found in water, herbs, fruit, oils, and salts in your natural foot care routine. Relax and enjoy the simple routine and the look that can be achieved from natural foot care.

Homemade Foot Moisturizer
Recipe 1
:
Ingredients:
Olive Oil
Coconut Oil
Vegetable Oil
Mashed Strawberries
Vitamin E Oil (optional)
Method:

Mix 1 tablespoon of Olive oil with 2 tablespoons of Coconut oil.
