{"id":65089,"date":"2022-04-07T08:20:25","date_gmt":"2022-04-07T06:20:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/radioislam.org.za\/a\/?p=65089"},"modified":"2022-04-11T15:00:11","modified_gmt":"2022-04-11T13:00:11","slug":"understanding-quran-terminology-part-4","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/radioislam.org.za\/a\/understanding-quran-terminology-part-4\/","title":{"rendered":"Family of the Prophets in the Holy Quran \u2013 Part 4"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The word Ahl when used with Bait<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Ahl is very often used with the word Bait, but what exactly does this mean?<\/p>\n<p>The term Ahl-al-Bait (people of home) consists of two separate words: \u201cAl-Ahl\u201d and \u201cAl-Bait\u201d, while both of these terms are clear and unambiguous in their independent meanings; they assume a range of meanings when combined together, especially when the word \u201cAhl\u201d is added either to \u201cBait\u201d or to an individual owning a \u201cBait\u201d (House).<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is then meant by this term (Ahl-al-Bait), and who are intended by this term?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Scholars have presented three different views about the intended meanings, especially when the term \u201cAhl\u201d, is added to \u201cBait\u201d or to a \u201cPerson\u201d:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>It includes all those who have \u2018kinship or a strong relationship\u2019 with the person (owner) of the house (Bait) or the house itself.<\/li>\n<li>It exclusively connotes the wives (of the owner of the house).<\/li>\n<li>It exclusively connotes the children (of the owner of the house).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The latter two opinions are uncommon and contradicting to the texts of the Qur\u2019an and the Ahaadith of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), because in the Qur\u2019an this term (Ahl) has been used for both: the wives and the children, as Allah says about Musa (peace be upon him).<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u0641\u064e\u0644\u064e\u0645\u0651\u064e\u0627 \u0642\u064e\u0636\u064e\u0649\u0670 \u0645\u064f\u0648\u0633\u064e\u0649 \u0671\u0644\u0652\u0623\u064e\u062c\u064e\u0644\u064e \u0648\u064e\u0633\u064e\u0627\u0631\u064e \u0628\u0650\u0623\u064e\u0647\u0652\u0644\u0650\u0647\u0650\u06e6\u0653 \u0621\u064e\u0627\u0646\u064e\u0633\u064e \u0645\u0650\u0646 \u062c\u064e\u0627\u0646\u0650\u0628\u0650 \u0671\u0644\u0637\u0651\u064f\u0648\u0631\u0650 \u0646\u064e\u0627\u0631\u064b\u0627 \u0642\u064e\u0627\u0644\u064e \u0644\u0650\u0623\u064e\u0647\u0652\u0644\u0650\u0647\u0650 \u0671\u0645\u0652\u0643\u064f\u062b\u064f\u0648\u0653\u0627\u06df \u0625\u0650\u0646\u0651\u0650\u0649\u0653 \u0621\u064e\u0627\u0646\u064e\u0633\u0652\u062a\u064f \u0646\u064e\u0627\u0631\u064b\u0627 \u0644\u0651\u064e\u0639\u064e\u0644\u0651\u0650\u0649\u0653 \u0621\u064e\u0627\u062a\u0650\u064a\u0643\u064f\u0645 \u0645\u0651\u0650\u0646\u0652\u0647\u064e\u0627 \u0628\u0650\u062e\u064e\u0628\u064e\u0631\u064d \u0623\u064e\u0648\u0652 \u062c\u064e\u0630\u0652\u0648\u064e\u0629\u064d \u0645\u0651\u0650\u0646\u064e \u0671\u0644\u0646\u0651\u064e\u0627\u0631\u0650 \u0644\u064e\u0639\u064e\u0644\u0651\u064e\u0643\u064f\u0645\u0652 \u062a\u064e\u0635\u0652\u0637\u064e\u0644\u064f\u0648\u0646\u064e<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After completing the term of his agreement, when Musa was travelling with his family, he saw a fire in the direction of Mount Tur. And certainly, Your Promise is true, and You are the Most Just of the judges.\u201d [Hud 11: 45]<\/p>\n<p>As is understood by the use of this term (Ahl) in the cardinal sources (Qur\u2019an and Sunnah), it can be said that the term \u2018Ahl\u2019 when used in combination with \u2018Bait\u2019, i.e. in Ahlal-Bait, begets a meaning that refers to three different households, which are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Household (Bait) of Lineage.<\/li>\n<li>The Household (Bait) of Residence.<\/li>\n<li>The Household (Bait) of Birth.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Tomorrow we will in sha Allah conclude this angle of discussions by taking a look at Qarabah and Ashirah.
