 <\/span><\/p>\n

1.   <\/span><\/span><\/span>Soil preparation: deep work soil with a fork – the soil must be fine for sweet potato production.<\/span><\/p>\n

2.   <\/span><\/span><\/span>Fertilizer: one big hand 1 square meter or kraal manure:4 big hands full 1 square meter<\/span><\/p>\n

3.   <\/span><\/span><\/span>Apply fertilizer \/ manure broadly over the areas.<\/span><\/p>\n

4.   <\/span><\/span><\/span>Work the fertilizer \/manure into the soil with a fork.<\/span><\/p>\n

5.   <\/span><\/span><\/span>Rake fine remove large clods and stones.<\/span><\/p>\n

6.   <\/span><\/span><\/span>Wait one month. Buy healthy vines from a grower every planting season. Prepare the ridges with centers 1 m  <\/span>(+- one fork length) and 30cm wide..<\/span><\/p>\n

7.   <\/span><\/span><\/span>Cut the vines 20 – 30 cm long (+- 1 magazine length).<\/span><\/p>\n

8.   <\/span><\/span><\/span>Plant the cut vines so that two to four buds are covered by the soil.<\/span><\/p>\n

9.   <\/span><\/span><\/span>Plant the vines 30cm (+- a magazine length)  <\/span>on top of the ridges. In rows.<\/span><\/p>\n

10.                <\/span><\/span><\/span>Water regularly: – first week – twice a day.
                              <\/span>– week three and on – three times a week.
                             <\/span> <\/span>–  <\/span>stop watering 1 month before harvesting or wait until growth is killed by
                                  <\/span>frost.<\/span><\/p>\n

11.                <\/span><\/span><\/span>Apply top dressing 3 and 6 weeks after planting . (i.e LAN 20g\/ square meters). Work lightly into the soil (2 milk bottle cops per 1m row.<\/span><\/p>\n

12.                <\/span><\/span><\/span>Scout regularly for insects. Combats pests and diseases.<\/span><\/p>\n

13.                <\/span><\/span><\/span>Remove all the weeds. Especially in the first two months.<\/span><\/p>\n

14.                <\/span><\/span><\/span>Combats diseases and pests. – use crop rotation. Plant sweet potatoes on land once in 4 years, plant spinach, butternut in the other years.
burn diseased plants. Remove plants from previous season. Never use cuttings from theses plants.<\/span><\/p>\n

15.                <\/span><\/span><\/span>Sweet potatoes grow for five months. Cut off the vines and leaves.<\/span><\/p>\n
