Fotos: Jorge Navarro (GDA via AP Images)&lt;\/p&gt;\n\" data-large-file=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/radioislam.org.za\/a\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/AP_Rodrigo_Chaves.jpg?fit=1024%2C682&amp;ssl=1\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-66337\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/radioislam.org.za\/a\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/AP_Rodrigo_Chaves.jpg?resize=300%2C200&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Economist Rodrigo Chaves had 53% of the vote, compared to 47% for former President Jos\u00e9 Figueres Ferrer, the Supreme Electoral Tribunal said.<\/p>\n<p>However, 42% of eligible voters did not participate in the country&#8217;s election due to a lack of enthusiasm.<\/p>\n<p>Discussing this with <em><strong>Radio Islam<\/strong><\/em>, political analyst Dr Dale Mckinley says Chaves&#8217;s win is needed for Costa Rica as the country is battling economically.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He comes with a bit of reputation as an economist and that is one of the reasons probably he fared better than one of his opposing candidates,&#8221; says Dr Mckinley.<\/p>\n<p>Chaves win comes as he fends off accusations of sexual harassment when he worked at the World Bank.
