Risk of type 2 diabetes<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The experts claim that people who smoke regularly have a 30 \u2013 40 percent higher of developing type 2 diabetes than those who do not.\u00a0Smoking can also make it more difficult for people with diabetes to manage their condition.<\/p>\n<p><strong>6. Weakened immune system<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Smoking cigarettes can weaken a person\u2019s immune system, making them more susceptible to illness.\u00a0It can also cause additional inflammation in the body.<\/p>\n<p><strong>7. Vision problems<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Smoking cigarettes can cause eye problems, including a greater risk of cataracts and age-related macular degeneration.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Other vision problems related to smoking include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>dry eyes<br \/>\nglaucoma<br \/>\ndiabetic retinopathy<\/p>\n<p><strong>8. Poor oral hygiene<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>People who smoke have double the risk of gum disease. This risk increases with the number of cigarettes a person smokes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Symptoms of gum disease include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>swollen and tender gums<br \/>\nbleeding when brushing<br \/>\nloose teeth<br \/>\nsensitive teeth<\/p>\n<p>Smoking tobacco can limit a person\u2019s ability to taste and smell things properly. It can also stain the teeth yellow or brown.<\/p>\n<p><strong>9. Unhealthy skin and hair<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Smoking tobacco can affect a person\u2019s skin and hair. A person who smokes may experience prematurely aged, wrinkled skin. They also have a higher risk of skin cancer, \u201cespecially on the lips.\u201d\u00a0Smoking can cause the hair and skin to smell of tobacco. It can also contribute to hair loss and balding.<\/p>\n<p><strong>10. Risk of other cancers<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In addition to the well-documented link with lung cancer, smoking cigarettes can also contribute to other forms of cancer.<\/p>\n<p>The American Cancer Society reports that cigarette smoking causes 20 \u2013 30 percent of pancreatic cancers.<\/p>\n<p>People who smoke are also three times more likely to develop bladder cancer than people who do not.<\/p>\n<p>Smoking cigarettes can also double a person\u2019s risk of stomach cancer. Tobacco is especially linked to stomach cancers that occur near the oesophagus.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cigarettes can also increase the risk of:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>mouth cancer<br \/>\nlaryngeal cancer<br \/>\nthroat cancer<br \/>\noesophageal cancer<br \/>\nkidney cancer<br \/>\ncervical cancer<br \/>\nliver cancer<br \/>\ncolon cancer<br \/>\nacute myeloid leukaemia<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday we took a look at four harms of Smoking and today we will continue taking a look at another six. 5.
