One passes through alternating periods of happiness and dismay, strength and weakness, wealth and poverty, health and sickness, etc.<\/p>\n<p>A true believer is one who maintains a clear level of faith throughout the worldly fluctuations. They are all for his benefit. If he is granted ease of living he is thankful and this is best for him. [Al-Baqarah 2: 155\u2013157]<\/p>\n<p>Thus, a believer shows gratitude and thankfulness for all the wonderful blessings that Allah grants him. And he displays patience and submission during sickness and hardships, hunger, or other afflictions.<\/p>\n<p>Allah has decreed that, in this life, hardships and disasters strike both believers and non-believers. For a non-believer, they are inconveniences that hinder him from proceeding with his normal involvement in the worldly life.<\/p>\n<p>For a believer, on the other hand, they are instances of test and remembrance, tests that promise great rewards, and indications of atonement and expiation of sins.<br \/>\nRegardless of how little is the harm that strikes a believer, it carries with it good news of forgiveness and elevated rank in Paradise. The Righteous Predecessors used to be pleased when a hardship afflicted them, seeing it as a token of Allah\u2019s forgiveness and benevolence.<\/p>\n<p>Let`s take a look at the rewards which a believer gets for the difficulties he had to undergo.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Multiplication of Rewards<\/strong><br \/>\nAnas RA reported that the Prophet \ufdfa said:<br \/>\n\u201cThe amount of reward is in accordance with the amount of suffering. When Allah loves some people, He tries them (with affliction). He who then is content (with Allah\u2019s decree) has achieved the acceptance (of Allah), and he who is dissatisfied (with Allah\u2019s decree) will attain the anger (of Allah).\u201d (At-Tirmidhi)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rewards for Sickness<\/strong><br \/>\nOne should not look to sickness as a gloomy episode, but should remember the great good in it. It is one form of affliction with which Allah tests His servants, giving them a chance to acquire rewards, as is further emphasized below.<\/p>\n<p>Abdallah bin Mas&#8217;ud RA reported that the Messenger of Allah \ufdfa said:<br \/>\n\u0645\u064e\u0627 \u0645\u0650\u0646\u0652 \u0645\u064f\u0633\u0652\u0644\u0650\u0645\u064d \u064a\u064f\u0635\u0650\u064a\u0628\u064f\u0647\u064f \u0623\u064e\u0630\u064b\u0649 \u0645\u0650\u0646\u0652 \u0645\u064e\u0631\u064e\u0636\u064d \u0641\u064e\u0645\u064e\u0627 \u0633\u0650\u0648\u064e\u0627\u0647\u064f \u0625\u0650\u0644\u0651\u064e\u0627 \u062d\u064e\u0637\u0651\u064e \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0651\u064e\u0647\u064f \u062a\u064e\u0639\u064e\u0627\u0644\u064e\u0649 \u0628\u0650\u0647\u0650 \u0633\u064e\u064a\u0651\u0650\u0626\u064e\u0627\u062a\u0650\u0647\u0650 \u0643\u064e\u0645\u064e\u0627 \u062a\u064e\u062d\u064f\u0637\u0651\u064f \u0627\u0644\u0634\u0651\u064e\u062c\u064e\u0631\u064e\u0629\u064f \u0648\u064e\u0631\u064e\u0642\u064e\u0647\u064e\u0627<br \/>\n\u201cWhenever a Muslim is afflicted by harm from sickness or other matters, Allah will drop his sins because of that, like a tree drops its leaves\u201d [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]<\/p>\n<p><strong>Removal of Sins<\/strong><br \/>\nAbu Sa`id Al-Khudri RA reported that the Prophet \ufdfa said,<br \/>\n\u0645\u064e\u0627 \u064a\u064f\u0635\u0650\u064a\u0628\u064f \u0627\u0644\u0652\u0645\u064f\u0633\u0652\u0644\u0650\u0645\u064e \u0645\u0650\u0646\u0652 \u0646\u064e\u0635\u064e\u0628\u064d \u0648\u064e\u0644\u0627\u064e \u0648\u064e\u0635\u064e\u0628\u064d \u0648\u064e\u0644\u0627\u064e \u0647\u064e\u0645\u0651\u064d \u0648\u064e\u0644\u0627\u064e \u062d\u064f\u0632\u0652\u0646\u064d \u0648\u064e\u0644\u0627\u064e \u0623\u064e\u0630\u064b\u0649 \u0648\u064e\u0644\u0627\u064e \u063a\u064e\u0645\u0651\u064d \u062d\u064e\u062a\u0651\u064e\u0649 \u0627\u0644\u0634\u0651\u064e\u0648\u0652\u0643\u064e\u0629\u0650 \u064a\u064f\u0634\u064e\u0627\u0643\u064f\u0647\u064e\u0627\u060c \u0625\u0650\u0644\u0627\u0651\u064e \u0643\u064e\u0641\u0651\u064e\u0631\u064e \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0651\u064e\u0647\u064f \u0628\u0650\u0647\u064e\u0627 \u0645\u0650\u0646\u0652 \u062e\u064e\u0637\u064e\u0627\u064a\u064e\u0627\u0647\u064f<br \/>\n&#8220;No fatigue, nor disease, nor sorrow, nor sadness, nor hurt, nor distress befalls a Muslim, even if it were the prick he receives from a thorn, but that Allah expiates some of his sins for that.&#8221; [Al-Bukhari]<\/p>\n<p><strong>Elevation in Ranks<\/strong><br \/>\n`A\u2019ishah RA narrated that once some pain afflicted the Prophet \ufdfa causing him to suffer and turn-about in his bed. She said, \u201cHad one of us done this, you would have blamed him.\u201d He \ufdfa replied:<br \/>\n\u201cAn ailment is intensified for the righteous. Whenever a believer is afflicted by a hardship, whether it is a thorn or more, a sin is taken off from him because of it, and he is elevated by one rank (in Paradise).\u201d (Ahmad)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Continuous Reward<\/strong><br \/>\nUsually, when a believer falls sick, he would not be able to do the same amount of good deeds (prayer, fasting, helping Muslims, etc.) that he used to do when he was well. She came to the Prophet \ufdfa saying, \u2018I have (epileptic) seizures, and I get exposed, so supplicate to Allah for me.\u2019<br \/>\nHe \ufdfa said, \u2018If you wish, be patient and you will attain Paradise; or if you wish, I will ask Allah to cure you.\u2019<br \/>\nShe replied, \u2018I will be patient! But my body gets exposed (because of the fall), so supplicate to Allah for me that I do not become exposed.\u2019<br \/>\nAnd he \ufdfa did.\u201d (Al-Bukhari 5652)<\/p>\n<p>Thus we have learnt that difficulties are challenging and hard to bear, but they can certainly be very rewarding as well.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A person\u2019s life in this world is not stable.
