In discussion with Radio Islam International<\/em> on this week\u2019s Africa Report is Head of Programmes at Media Monitoring Africa, Thandi Smith.<\/p>\n

Kenyan election results are out. Many are asking whether Raila Odinga is perhaps the most unlucky candidate in African history, the fifth time now that he lost. There was a lot of misinformation post the Kenyan election result.<\/span><\/p>\n

Thandi said people waited in anticipation for this result. There was a lot of contestation and misinformation that impacted voting.<\/span><\/p>\n

She also stresses that misinformation is as just as essential post results.<\/p>\n

Regarding climate change and the commonwealth games. Thandi said a couple of journalists were conversing with some athletes about training. A Kenyan athlete said it\u2019s becoming horrific to train for 2\/3 hours in the heat, impacting performance. It is reportedly directly linked to the climate crisis and climate change.<\/span><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, it was reported that a London Museum is returning artefacts to Nigeria.<\/span><\/p>\n

Thandi said this speaks to ongoing issues of conciliarity. Decades later, we still do not see the process and correct implementation of what some countries agreed to in colonial times.<\/span><\/p>\n
