After Johannesburg Mayor Mpho Phalatse was unseated in a motion of no confidence, ActionSA warned that the DA could soon lose power in Ekurhuleni. Gauteng leader Bongani Baloyi this morning briefed the media on Friday\u2019s developments, adding that Phalatse attempted to convince the DA\u2019s national leadership to accede to a request for the position of the speaker to be given to the IFP, to no avail.<\/p>\n

In an interview with\u00a0Radio Islam International<\/em>, ActionSA\u2019s Bongani Baloyi said it was no surprise when the collapse happened as it was a consequence of immature parties who didn\u2019t want to put the residents ahead or make solid compromises that create the ability for a coalition.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to Baloyi, some parties, especially the DA, forget that they did not win the majority; instead, it was a coalition.<\/span><\/p>\n

He said it collapsed the way it did because PA has decided they no longer see themselves participating in this coalition and therefore preferred to go elsewhere.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAt this stage I don\u2019t think we still have a coalition in Johannesburg, the coalition has finished and we have moved on and are now preparing ourselves to become opposition parties.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Ekurhuleni could soon follow as the EFF and ANC agree to unseat Mayor Campbell.<\/span><\/p>\n

The EFF and ANC joined together have numbers. Baloyi said it\u2019s likely that they meet and remove the parties there.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ekurhuleni is a minority government that will probably move into the ANC in the coming months.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to Baloyi, the DA has embarked on a process. They have requested only today that one of the ActionSA members put in a supporting affidavit.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe will observe from there, but believe even if it\u2019s successful it will only last for four days.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
