South Africa is set to host peace talks between the Ethiopian government and the Tigray Peoples Liberation Front (TPLF) on Monday, 24 October 2022.<\/span><\/p>\n

This comes as conflict between the TPLF and the Ethiopian government in the Tigray region have left thousands dead and caused millions to flee. <\/span><\/p>\n

Previously, the sides agreed to participate in peace talks led by the African Union (AU), however the meeting did not take place and the conflicted instead increased in the Tigray region. <\/span><\/p>\n

The government of Ethiopia confirmed last week that it will send a delegation to the talks in South Africa that will be facilitated by former Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta and Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo.<\/span><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, The World Health Organisation (WHO) Director General Tedros Ghebreyesus and many international countries and organizations have been expressing deep concern about the challenges the people of Tigray are facing.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
