The progeny of Yusuf \u0639\u0644\u064a\u0647 \u0627\u0644\u0633\u0644\u0627\u0645 continued to live in Egypt until the coming of M\u016bs\u0101 \u0639\u0644\u064a\u0647 \u0627\u0644\u0633\u0644\u0627\u0645, at which time the persecution of them was intensified. Under the guidance of M\u016bs\u0101 \u0639\u0644\u064a\u0647 \u0627\u0644\u0633\u0644\u0627\u0645 they escaped to the Holy Land \u2013 Palestine.<\/p>\n

After Pharaoh began his persecution, M\u016bs\u0101 \u0639\u0644\u064a\u0647 \u0627\u0644\u0633\u0644\u0627\u0645 with his brother H\u0101r\u016bn \u0639\u0644\u064a\u0647 \u0627\u0644\u0633\u0644\u0627\u0645 guided the Ban\u016b Isr\u0101\u2019\u012bl (Children of Israel) to flee from Egypt towards Palestine. After crossing the Red Sea, where Pharaoh and his men died, the Ban\u016b Isr\u0101\u2019\u012bl began to argue and protest at the lack of water, food and shade.<\/p>\n
M\u016bs\u0101 \u0639\u0644\u064a\u0647 \u0627\u0644\u0633\u0644\u0627\u0645 prayed to Allah and all three were provided. Despite these favours, their ingratitude continued and they built a statue of a calf to worship in total contradiction to M\u016bs\u0101\u2019s \u0639\u0644\u064a\u0647 \u0627\u0644\u0633\u0644\u0627\u0645 commands.<\/p>\n
When they arrived on the outskirts of Palestine, M\u016bs\u0101 \u0639\u0644\u064a\u0647 \u0627\u0644\u0633\u0644\u0627\u0645 commanded them to enter the Holy Land (5: 21), they nevertheless remonstrated, O M\u016bs\u0101! In this land are a people of exceeding strength: never shall we enter it until they leave it: if (once) they leave, then shall we enter (5: 22).<\/p>\n
M\u016bs\u0101 \u0639\u0644\u064a\u0647 \u0627\u0644\u0633\u0644\u0627\u0645 assured them of victory if they marched forward and he also planned the attack for them \u2013 Assault them at the (proper) gate, when you enter victory will be yours (5: 23). However, the Ban\u016b Isr\u0101\u2019\u012bl remained obstinate and said, M\u016bs\u0101, you and your Lord go and fight, we will wait here (5: 24).<\/p>\n
M\u016bs\u0101 \u0639\u0644\u064a\u0647 \u0627\u0644\u0633\u0644\u0627\u0645 was deeply pained and felt dejected with the Ban\u016b Isr\u0101\u2019\u012bl and thus he turned to Allah, O My Lord! I have power only over myself and my brother (H\u0101r\u016bn), so separate us from this rebellious people (5: 25).<\/p>\n
Allah brought down His punishment on the ungrateful and recusant, they shall be forbidden to enter the land for 40 years, while they wander about on earth and grieve not over the rebellious people (5: 26).<\/p>\n
The Ban\u016b Isr\u0101\u2019\u012bl thus remained wandering aimlessly in the desert and it is narrated that only when all the adult members of the rebellious generation had died, did their descendants cross the River Jordan and move towards Jericho in Palestine.<\/p>\n
Even M\u016bs\u0101 \u0639\u0644\u064a\u0647 \u0627\u0644\u0633\u0644\u0627\u0645 and his brother H\u0101r\u016bn \u0639\u0644\u064a\u0647 \u0627\u0644\u0633\u0644\u0627\u0645 died before reaching the Holy Land. A hadith Quds\u012b reports:<\/p>\n
Abu Hurairah RA reports that the Prophet \ufdfa said, \u201cThe angel of death was sent to M\u016bs\u0101. When he came to M\u016bs\u0101, M\u016bs\u0101 slapped him on the eye. The angel returned to Allah and said, \u2018You have sent me to a servant who does not want to die\u2019. Allah ordered the angel, \u2018Return to him and tell him to put his hand on the back of an ox and for every hair that will come under it, he will be granted one year of life\u2019. M\u016bs\u0101 said, \u2018O Lord! What will happen after that?\u2019 Allah replied, \u2018Then death\u2019. M\u016bs\u0101 decided, \u2018Let it be now\u2019. M\u016bs\u0101 then requested Allah to let him die close to the Sacred Land, so much so, that he would be at a distance of a stone\u2019s throw from it\u201d. Abu Hurairah added, the Prophet \ufdfa then said, \u201cIf I were there, I would show you his grave below the red sand hill on the side of the road\u201d.
