TASKEEN’S POINT OF VIEW<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Sitting on the musallah overlooking the garden, I think about the life I have growing inside me. The house will soon be filled with the patter of little feet. I can’t help but be thankful, to my Creator, for this beautiful gift. I raise my hands in prayer.<\/span><\/p>\n

I hope and pray that Aunty Sabera loves this child, her first grandchild. I remind myself that if I am to find fault in a person, I need to make seventy excuses for them before I do. So, I focus on my happy life instead.<\/span><\/p>\n

As I sit there, I have a great idea and quickly wake up to put it into motion. I called Aunty Sabera and invited her to accompany Aadam and me to my first gynaecology appointment. This is my way of extending an olive branch and letting her know I want her to be a part of our lives. My hands are trembling as I dial her number. “Inallaha ma’a sabereen”, I whisper the prayer my father taught me whenever he faced a difficult situation. I catch Anna peeping at me, smiling.<\/span><\/p>\n

She’s at my side the minute I place the phone into its cradle, and soon my wide smile is mirrored by her. She wants to hear more, and I realise this is a teaching moment for Anna. It’s the perfect time to discuss gossiping and its effects of it.<\/span><\/p>\n

As I get ready for my appointment, I felt terrible for not asking Amina, but at the same time, it may be insensitive. I texted her to ask if she would like to come, and if not, I would understand. Almost instantly, she responds, informing me that she is coming. I chuckle and wonder what the doctor would think about the entire family coming in for a checkup.<\/span><\/p>\n
