Ingredients:

500g dates<\/p>\n
2 tsp bi-carbonate of soda<\/p>\n
2 cups boiling water<\/p>\n
375g butter<\/p>\n
2 cups brown sugar<\/p>\n
2 tsp vanilla essence<\/p>\n
4 eggs<\/p>\n
2 cups cake flour<\/p>\n
2 cups safe rising flour<\/p>\n
2 cups baking powder<\/p>\n
Pinch of salt<\/p>\n
½ cup walnuts<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Method:<\/p>\n
Place date in a bowl and add the bicarbonate of soda.<\/p>\n
Cover dates with 2 cups of boiling water and allow to cool.<\/p>\n
In separate bowl cream butter, sugar, vanilla essence and slightly beaten eggs.<\/p>\n
Add flours, salt and baking powder to creamed mixture and blend thoroughly.<\/p>\n
Lastly add dates and nuts and mix thoroughly.<\/p>\n
Poor batter into 2 lined, greased loaf pans and bake for 1 ½ hours @ 300F\/ 150C or until skewer inserted comes out.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
