It\u2019s almost like a broken record of negativity that replays repeatedly in your head.<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re wondering whether you are overthinking a particular situation or concern, there are a few things you can look for.<\/p>\n<p>Signs of overthinking include:<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 An inability to think about anything else<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Being unable to relax<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Constantly feeling worried or anxious<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Fixating on things outside of your control<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Feeling mentally exhausted<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Having a lot of negative thoughts<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Replaying a situation or experience in your mind<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Second-guessing your decisions<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Thinking of all the worst-case scenarios<\/p>\n<p><strong>These are normally the typical behaviours of an over-thinker:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 There\u2019s a running commentary in your head, criticising and picking apart what you said and did yesterday, terrified that you look bad \u2013 and fretting about a terrible future that might await you.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Combing over your decisions, petrified you\u2019ve made the wrong one, or procrastinating over the next one.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Analysing what your friend or colleague really meant by that throwaway comment or that sideways glance.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Agonising over what to post in social media, and concerned when other people are having a better time than you, or getting more likes.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Reading and re-reading texts to work out the true meaning of the message.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 \u2018What ifs\u2019 and \u2018shoulds\u2019 dominate your thinking, as if an invisible jury is sitting in judgement on your life and finding it wanting?<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Not sleeping well, because all the ruminating and worrying keeps you awake at night.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Feeling regret and beating yourself up for your perceived inadequacies.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Resorting to drastic steps in a bid to calm the tyranny of your overthinking brain.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Unable to be true to yourself because you\u2019re so busy working out what other people need, want and think.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We all have times when we worry, whether it\u2019s about work, health, family, relationships or a host of other reasons.
