Msunduzi Municipality’s latest disconnection drive stopped in\u00a0Cinderella\u00a0Park after disgruntled locals barricaded a road to obstruct a convoy of municipal vehicles.<\/span><\/p>\n

Residents took matters into their own hands to ensure a continuous supply of electricity and water after it was reported in The Witness; municipal security guards told residents that they do not disconnect in areas where their safety is threatened.<\/span><\/p>\n

A meeting was called after the stand-off between citizens and municipal workers to address the community on the way forward, and it was agreed a grace period would be granted for all those with historical debt to make payment arrangements and those who need to fill in indigent forms to do so.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Deputy chair of the\u00a0Cinderella\u00a0Park\u00a0Civic Association, Ralph Jacks, attended the meeting with the councillor and members of the municipal finance department and advised residents to make affordable arrangements to pay off their debt.<\/span><\/p>\n

Municipal spokesperson Ntobeko Mkhize confirmed the meeting and the outcomes and urged residents to make payments on their accounts to avoid disconnection.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
