Deen spoke on the Turkish elections and runoff saying that Erdo\u011fan’s support remains strong, and many of the issues seen as negatives were positives for him and influenced the vote.<\/span><\/p>\n

Western media predicted that his opponent would win as he is profiled as an authoritarian. Deen says media covering was varied; however, they mainly focused on Erdo\u011fan’s problems rather than on those of K\u0131l\u0131\u00e7daro\u011flu. He added that Western media could have influenced the electoral results.<\/span><\/p>\n

Very little focus was placed on the parliamentary vote, which is policy based and was vital as it impacted the Middle East and Europe.<\/span><\/p>\n

The issue for Europe and the US now is NATO and Sweden’s acceptance into NATO. The second would be a deal in Greece and Cyprus which will be more difficult. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

According to Deen, there will be more conciliation toward Syrian refugees, which will see more peaceful solutions in the regions where Turkey plays a role.<\/span><\/p>\n
