The message was clear, the South African Muslim Community Forum and various other Muslim Organisations were united at a peaceful protest yesterday at Mary Fitzgerald Square in Johannesburg in Condemning the actions of the Quran been burnt in Sweden on Eid Ul Adha.<\/p>\n

More than 500 Muslims attended the peaceful protest in Johannesburg.<\/p>\n

Swedish Police have used the excuse of Freedom of Speech to say such acts are legal but not appropriate and that is the stance of many of the western countries too.<\/p>\n

Some media houses have called the act a hate crime but in the eyes of the Islamic World and for Muslims around the world, this is pure Islamophobia.<\/p>\n

It wasn\u2019t too long ago; a Swedish man ridiculed Nabi SAW also under the banner of freedom of speech.<\/p>\n

As the South African Muslim Community and Muslims around the world, we condemn such acts happening to any religion and we urge the Swedish government to hold its citizen accountable and also ask the United Nations to re-check the phrase freedom of speech and note that even in freedom of speech, there are limitations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
