The draft white paper is a policy document to pave the way for a more variable fun model for the SABC; it somehow also defines the role of the SABC within the digital sphere. Regarding the TV licences, South Africans know that the SABC is going through a financial crisis, so the draft white paper has been implemented to try to alleviate the load.<\/span><\/p>\n

The SABC has gone digital and can be viewed on various social media platforms. The draft white paper is there to make things easier financially because people would have to pay a subscription to view certain content of the SABC on other platforms.<\/span><\/p>\n

Media Monitoring African and Save our SABCs, Uyando Siyotula, says that regardless of the world’s direction, there is still a great need for a state-producing channel. Siyotula acknowledged that many less fortunate people have access to satellite decoders due to not being fully content with the content produced by the SABC channel. But with this being when people cannot pay for the subscribed channels, they still have free access to the SABC.<\/span><\/p>\n
